Derick Dillard Talks ‘Broken’ Relationship With Duggars
In a recent interview, Derick Dillard talks more about his “broken” relationship with his wife’s family. The feud between the Duggar family and Derick and Jill Dillard is ongoing.
The Sun exclusively spoke with Derick about his relationship with Jill’s family. In the interview, Derick reveals, “Because our visitation to the Duggar house has been restricted and that is where they and their spouses hang out, we have not been able to see other family as much as we would like, so that is difficult.”
Derick also goes on to say, “We do try to invite brothers and sisters-in-law over as much as they can come.” So, based on that statement, it sounds like the rest of the family is comfortable with Jill and Derick. The rift seems to involve Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar.
He concludes, saying, “We hope and pray God would restore relationships where there is brokenness. But, at the same time, we recognize that only God can change people’s hearts and bring healing.”

In the interview, Derick also mentions his tell-all book. He’s mentioned it a few times in passing, but it’s unclear when it will be released. Derick says “Although the book will be inspired by our own journey, the goal is for it to be relatable, in that it will examine themes that have haunted people for ages.”
Then, he adds, “Our story is difficult, but it is not unique.”
Duggar fans suspect that it will be some time before his book is ready for publication. After all, he’s currently in law school and is the father of two children. While he could be working on it right now, he may not have a lot of time to do so.
In response to Derick revealing that a book is in the works, Jim Bob is reportedly getting lawyers ready. A source revealed that Jim Bob has found several “big lawyers.” These lawyers are reportedly familiar with TLC contracts. The source also claims that Jim Bob will be “done,” once Derick’s book is out.
As far as the book is concerned, Duggar fans seem to be interested. Because of this, it looks like Derick will continue to keep fans in the know as he works on it. And, as soon as he comes up with a release date or any information, he should be sharing it.
When did Jill and Derick leave Counting On?
Duggar fans will recall that Jill, Derick, and their two sons are no longer on TLC’s Counting On. The show is still airing new seasons, and the next season begins on Tuesday, June 30. But, Jill and Derick still aren’t on this season. They left in 2017.
In a recent interview with Katie Joy of Without a Crystal Ball, Derick talks about leaving the show. He talks about how it wasn’t about money and it was about “regaining control of our lives.” Derick is often speaking out about Jim Bob having control over himself and Jill. In the interview with Katie Joy, he also says, “We are now trying to avoid toxic relationships for the health and recovery of our family.”
