19 Kids & Counting star Jim Bob Duggar has announced his run for state Senate in Arkansas. After revealing his platform, however, he’s received quite a bit of backlash, mostly relating to his son Josh Duggar’s ongoing scandal. Critics think that Jim Bob’s “pro-family” values contradict what’s going on in his family. Read on to get all of the details.

Jim Bob Duggar Announces Political Run

On Friday morning, Jim Bob announced that he is running for the Arkansas State Senate District 7 seat. It’s currently vacant because Sen. Lance Eads, R-Springdale resigned. So, the Counting On dad has decided to try to take that seat. In a statement announcing his run, Jim Bob said:

“I am honored to announce my candidacy for Arkansas State Senate District 7. Northwest Arkansas is my lifelong home. It’s where my wife, Michelle, and I have raised our 20 children. It’s where we’ve grown our small businesses. It’s where we’ve built a life centered around our faith, family and friends. I’m running for state Senate because these are unprecedented times in our nation,” Duggar said. “Out-of-control bureaucrats have put politics over common-sense policy with government mandates that force people to choose between earning a paycheck and violating their personal rights and beliefs.”

Son Josh Arrested For Child Pornography

Jim Bob’s decision to run for office comes at an interesting time. His son Josh Duggar is currently facing jail time for receiving and possessing child pornography. He was arrested in April, pled not guilty, and will go to trial in November.

Due to the nature of his charges, fans and critics think it’s the wrong time for Jim Bob to run for office. Not only is there a lot going on for the Duggars, critics believe that Jim Bob’s political stance doesn’t appropriately match what’s really happening in his family.

Jim Bob Duggar’s ‘Pro-Family’ Views Questioned

When announcing his run, Jim Bob also revealed his political platform. He said, “Now more than ever, we need a bold voice that is pro-family, pro-business, pro-gun and pro-life. It’s time for conservatives to demand courageous leadership that puts Arkansas families, jobs, and our constitutional liberties first. I look forward to being your voice in the Arkansas State Senate.”

On Reddit, Duggar Snarks are discussing the 19 Kids & Counting star’s decision to run for office. They think it’s especially interesting that he would campaign on “pro-family” values based on his son Josh’s alleged crime.

In the discussion, one user writes, “Also, it might not always be fair, but having a kid in prison isn’t a good look for any politician, especially if you’re trying to use your kids as evidence of your family values.”

Another Duggar Snark adds, “Is this real? That takes some nerve to run for public office while his son is going to trial for CSAM [child sexual abuse material]. I am it shock at the audacity of this crap.”

Someone else jokes, “I hope his competitor just holds up Josh’s mug shot everytime he says any variation on ‘family values.'”

So, do you think Jim Bob Duggar’s views contradict what’s really happening? Or do you think he truly believes what he’s campaigning on? Let us know in the comments below.

  1. Jim Bob is a hypocrite !! He can’t really believe that FAMILY VALUES means trying to hide the fact that your son IS A CHILD MOLESTER !! He molested his OWN SISTER’S and you tried to hide it !! Your daughter’s have to live with that. Your FAMILY VALUES & NONSENSE is not what this country needs. You need to get your own house in order, before you even think about trying to preach to others !!
