A Sugar & Spice Holiday is the first Christmas-themed movie with an Asian American lead cast! This It’s A Wonderful Lifetime movie stars Jacky Lai (V-Wars) and Tony Giroux (Motherland: Fort Salem) is the story about honoring your family’s past.

What Is Lifetime’s A Sugar & Spice Holiday About?

What should Lifetime Christmas movie fans expect? According to TVLine, young architect Suzie (Lai) heads back to her hometown for Christmas. There, her Chineese-American family own the local Lobster Bar.

The family recently lost their beloved grandmother, whose baking was legendary in their small Maine town. However, Suzie finds herself entering the town’s gingerbread house competition. Well, her family really guilted her into doing this.

Soon, Suzie and Billy Billy (Giroux) team up. The two were high school pals. Meanwhile, as the baking duo try to figure out the key ingredients to a winning gingerbread house, Suzie realizes that Billy is quite the catch. You could even call it love.

Lifetime’s A Sugar & Spice Holiday Written By Asian American

Writer Eirene Donohue wrote the script for Lifetime’s A Sugar & Spice Holiday. According to her interview on the Hallmarkies Podcast, she is Vietnamese-American writer who had previously written other movies for Lifetime. She had pitched this one and they loved the idea.

Donahue was fascinated with gingerbread house competitions. She was amazed by the craftsmanship and creativity around these festive buildings. But, she assures viewers, in the movie, this is a small town competition. So, don’t expect anything too crazy!

Most of all, she knows Christmas movie fans will love it. “When I saw the rough cut, I was so happy with it. Everyone did such a great job and they’re totally what I pictured the characters.” In addition, this is a light and happy movie that the whole family will enjoy.

It’s A Wonderful Lifetime
