Many fans are ecstatic over hearing the news Tayshia Adams is taking over as The Bachelorette. Rumor has it Clare Crawley found love early on. So, producers brought in Tayshia as backup to finish out the 2020 season. Take a look at her dating past as she embarks on her new journey.
Tayshia’s past marriage
Stylecaster shared Tayshia’s relevant dating past. The 29-year-old from Newport Beach, California has been married once and dated three Bachelor alums. It wasn’t a long marriage, but Tayshia was previously married. His name was Joshua Bourelle. He’s not associated with The Bachelor franchise and their marriage only lasted a year and six months. They were married April 2016 to October 2017. He filed for divorce from Tayshia. Their divorce was finalized in April 2018.
During her appearance on Colton Underwood’s season of The Bachelor, Tayshia opened up about her divorce. She had said, “This past year and a half has been kind of hard for me and it’s actually because I was married, and I got divorced. I actually married my first boyfriend and I was with him for about six years or so.”
Tayshia admitted to once being ashamed of talking about her divorce, but then realized sometimes it just doesn’t work out. She said in January 2019, “My divorce used to be something I was ashamed of. Because to me it represented, not only to myself but to everyone that knew me, that I had failed at marriage, something I value so highly. It made me question my worth and completely dimmed the light inside of me that used to shine so brightly.”
The other men
Tayshia has dated not one but three guys from Bachelor Nation. First, of course, was Colton Underwood. She made it into the final three, but Colton sent her home when he decided to chase after Cassie Randolph.
Following The Bachelor, Tayshia appeared on Bachelor in Paradise last summer. She dated two guys while there. Derek Peth and John Paul Jones. She and Derek hit it off later in the season after Demi Burnett chose Kristian Haggerty over him. However, Tayshia told Derek she didn’t see their relationship working in the real world so they split.
John Paul and Tayshia had a rocky relationship from the start. And, ultimately they broke up before the BIP season ended. However, Tayshia flew to Maryland to ask him to take her back following the finale. They tried to make it work, but broke up in October 2019.
She had said, “I would never badmouth John. We both have our flaws. I think communication is a really big deal. I learned from a previous relationship that I very much so over communicative, but that’s all I can do. What he can do is listen to that and try to navigate that relationship with that information I’m giving him. If you’re choosing to have that stuff go in one ear and out the other, that’s on you.”
John Paul has offered support and congratulations to Tayshia following the announcement she will be The Bachelorette.
Tayshia once said she wanted older suitors
US Weekly shared what Tayshia once said she was looking for in a man. Everyone knows Tayshia was in the running to be The Bachelorette even as far back as Hannah Brown. When Hannah landed the role, Tayshia spoke out about the men on her season. She said, “I might be more tough on the guys, in the sense I’d need them to stand up a little bit more than Hannah.” She continued, “She’s pretty fun and doesn’t take herself too seriously all the time. The guys would definitely have to be much older, I’d tell you that much.”
She had also said, “I require a little bit more life experience, someone who really knows who they are and still aren’t trying to figure themselves out. Show up, or get out. No bulls—t, let’s go, I’m trying to find a husband!”
Now, Tayshia is getting her chance. Many of the men cast for Clare Crawley are somewhat older contestants. Maybe one of them will be her future husband.
