Hallmark Movies & Mysteries are starting out the new year with the Crossword Mysteries: Abracadaver. Lacey Chabert is once again reunited with Brennan Elliott in the third installment of this Hallmark original mystery series that is co-written and co-produced by New York Times crosswords guru, Will Shortz.
What Is Abracadaver About?
When a famous magician drops dead in the middle of a performance, in front of a packed crowd, could this seemingly natural death actually be murder? Tess Harper (Chabert), the New York Sentinel Crosswords editor is once again teamed up with NYPD’s finest detective, Logan O’Connor (Elliott). The two have to find a way to work together to uncover the challenging clues to solve this murder, while they grow close together.
Crossword Mysteries: Abracadaver premieres on Sunday, January 5, on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
Brennan Elliott Says This Is ‘Best’ Of Series
Speaking on the Hallmarkies Podcast, Brennan Elliott revealed that Abracadaver is the best of the three series mysteries. He shared that you need a couple of episodes for everything to gel. He said they found “the show’s voice” in this third one. Now, they are a “team, solving crimes.” Brennan compares this chemistry to Hart to Hart and thinks that “opposites attract” in this series.
The two actors had other concerns with this series. They had just come from All Of My Heart: The Wedding. Now, they were acting against each other in a totally new series. They had the challenge of making this believable. Of course, the two talented actors did!
In the podcast, Brennan shared that he started acting as a teen in order to express his emotions. This totally changed his life. Although he enjoys playing villains, he loves his Hallmark roles, including Detective O’Connor on the Crossword Mysteries. Brennan loves the range of characters he has played on Hallmark.
Of course, everyone wants to know about his on-screen chemistry with Lacey Chabert. The first time Lacey and Brennan were paired up was with the huge hit All of My Heart. It was his first real Hallmark movie. In their first scene when they meet, Brennan knew that he had something special with Lacey. He believes it is because they are both “open-hearted people” and tend to trust. Brennan also said that they both shared the vision of creating a story that had passion and was “honest and believable.”
Brennan adds that director Peter Deluise (Stargate), is a “lovely” friend that helped make this a memorable experience. He said that “the stars aligned.” And the Lacey and Brennan chemistry has continued. Are you ready for Abracadaver?
