Celebrities get both praise and criticism. With their lives in the public eye, there are sure to be fans who agree and disagree with everything they do. Mom-shaming and parent-shaming have become popular lately. Fans of celebrities weigh in on stars’ parenting choices and often give them unsolicited advice while they’re at it. The Duggar family of TLC’s 19 Kids & Counting and Counting On has been criticized many times.

On social media, plenty of Duggar parents have faced backlash. Some of them, like Jessa Seewald, know exactly how to respond in a snappy way. Others choose not to say anything at all. Often, fans jump in to defend the parents in question.

On Christmas Day, Josiah and Lauren Duggar shared a sweet family picture. Their new baby, Bella, is celebrating her first Christmas.

In their caption, the couple wrote, “Merry Christmas 2019! ‘For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.’ Isaiah 9:6″

Duggar fans were quick to notice that Bella isn’t wearing socks in the photo. Someone commented, “Please be careful, cause like you have your daughter barefoot 🦶 she can catch a cold 🥶 Please 🙏🙏🙏”.

It’s unclear whether Lauren or Josiah ended up responding. They share an Instagram account, so fans are never quite sure who’s posting. They wrote back and said, “It’s actually 70 degrees today-one the warmest Christmas’s😆”.

After that, other Duggar fans in the comments began saying how the cold would not make the baby sick. One fan said, “absolutely cannot catch a cold by getting cold. Plus it’s very warm in the South today. Give these new parents some credit!” Another said, “just curious why you would think it’s ok to tell someone on the internet how to raise their child? I just will never understand why people think it’s ok to give advice to a total stranger? 🤷‍♀️”

Josiah and Lauren only recently became parents. They just had their first daughter in November. So far, they have shared quite a few updates via social media. Duggar fans love to see new pictures of Bella.

They have gotten parent-shamed one other time for taking Bella on a walk so soon after her birth. Josiah and Lauren’s followers thought that she should be wearing a hat.
