Kim Kardashian recently posed for 7Hollywood magazine and people are not happy about it.

Some Fans Showed Support, Others Were Outraged

Kim Kardashian has once again been put under fire with accusations of blackface in her latest magazine debut. The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star made a post on Instagram and those who saw it weren’t anywhere near amused. She posed on the cover in an Elizabeth Taylor themed spread. She wore a skin-tight sparkly black dress, her hair was in a shorter style and laid across a white bed.

There were several fans in the comments showing support for her, but plenty of others felt she was posing in blackface. Some who saw the photo did point out that the publication could be to blame. The photo had likely been edited and retouched, so it is possible that the editing could have done this to Kim’s skin color.

“You can’t wear black people as a costume Kim. I know you want our innate dopeness and want to birth black babies forever, however… You KNOW better than this,” one comment read. “Please reconsider how dark you decide to make your skin, when you don’t share the pain of our turmoil. This isn’t it. It’s draining and tired – sincerely a supporter since age 13.”

This Is Not The Act Of The Role Model Kim Kardashian Wants To Be

Another fan was concerned for Kim, asking if she was okay. They noted that Kim is white, and she can’t choose when she wants to “drop in and out” for her own benefit. Blackface is blackface, it doesn’t matter if you’re rich or not.

Another fan chimed in with, “Sis wanna get in Wakanda so bad.”

Users on Twitter were also conflicted in their responses to the post. A user called out Kim, saying she was cosplaying as a black woman and no one was going to do anything about it. A reply argued that what she had done was not blackface or cultural appropriation. Misdirected anger is what this user brought it all down to.

Yahoo! Lifestyle and others have made a relevant point, if you have to do a double-take to even recognize the person, it probably shouldn’t be done.

A Twitter user that pointed this out also noted that Kim Kardashian comes off with a desire to be a role model. But she’s normalizing things like this and that’s not okay. The user said this is a reminder that she isn’t the role model she wants to be.

She Says There Were No Intentions To Offend Anyone

Several of Kim’s followers explained their frustrations with the reality star, but several others took up for her. They said she simply looked tan and did not intend to offend anyone. But this isn’t the first time Kim Kardashian has seen these accusations. She’s been in this position multiple times now. She’s always managed to come forward and stress that she never meant to offend anyone.

In an interview, Kim attempted to explain herself. “I would obviously never want to offend anyone. I was really tan when we shot the images, and it might be the contrast was off. But I showed the image to many people, to many in the business. No one brought that to our attention. No one mentioned it.”

According to PopCulture, when her new makeup line first came out, she was accused of blackface in her photos then as well. Her sister Khloe Kardashian has also recently been accused of blackface in a video she did with Kylie Jenner.

Despite the controversy over the magazine cover, she’s kept the photo on Instagram. There’s been no word on whether she’s going to keep it up or take it down.
