‘Welcome To Plathville’: Olivia Opens Up About Not Being Accepted By Ethan’s Family

Welcome to Plathville Olivia

Welcome to Plathville premiered on Tuesday, November 5. TV Shows Ace reported “that the eldest boy and his wife Olivia are featured front and center on the show. He found his freedom from all the family restrictions after his wedding.” But we see his parents, especially Kim, clash with Olivia as she feels they’re too restrictive with their kids. Now, Olivia went on her Instagram Stories where she opened up about how she feels unaccepted by Ethan’s family.

Welcome To Plathville reveals conflict between Olivia and Ethan’s parents

In the preview of the TLC show, we saw that Ethan’s parents really did not appreciate Olivia who hates that their children are raised under massive restrictions. After all, before marrying her, Ethan never tasted a coke. The kids don’t know of Tom Brady, or even about Spider-man, we reported. We also noted, “The Plath parents disagree with Oliva, Ethans’ new wife. It seems like she’s unhappy with the way the kids get kept so sheltered… In the show preview, we see mother Kim saying, “Well, I don’t think it’s your job to parent our children.”

And, it seems that conflict might not be a manufactured storyline for the Welcome to Plathville show. Olivia took to her Instagram on Thursday night and revealed that real-life issues trouble her. It came after she had been away from the social media site for a while. Olivia explained that her phone got stolen and then she encountered various app and password issues. But, she’s back and talking quietly while Ethan watches television. Obviously, as the Plaths deny the kids movies and TV, he’s making up for lost time. In fact, after the first episode, Meaww reported that fans felt very sorry for the kids.

Olivia elaborates on how hurt she is with not being accepted

In a series of videos, part of which you can view in this article, Olivia revealed her heart’s hurting. She talked about being on the TLC show that started this past week. Olivia then talked a bit more. She noted that the filming took time and it’s been a long time “processing” all of it. Olivia said, “in so many ways this has been a grieving season for me.” Elaborating, the Welcome to Plathville star noted, “Every little girl grows up and thinks, ‘I’m gonna get married and my in-laws are going to adore me.'” She added, “It’s going to be a home-away-from-home and I’m gonna have a new family.”

But, for Olivia it never worked out like that, She notes she recently went to two weddings, and the “inlaws love their daughters-in-law.” She says that she’s very “happy for them.” But, “it hasn’t been my experience.” That sounds very sad. Furthermore, she noted, “that’s been very hard for me to accept.” She says that shes a “dreamer and had all these ideas in her head.” But their “first year of marriage has been nothing like [she] thought.” She  explains that’s why she describes it as a “grieving season.”

Sad Olivia opens up more about her feelings

Rather sadly, the Welcome to Plathville star continued explaining her feelings. She says she’s learning how to “walk through this with grace and class.” She’s hoping to “come out stronger and not let it break” her. She reminds her fans that her “husband was raised in a very fundamentalist and legalistic home.” She notes that he’s breaking out of that, but the others are, “we don’t wanna be that way.” So there’s questions and conflict and clashes. Olivia says it’s going to take a whole lot longer, presumably, to resolve itself.  Nevertheless, she noted that Nathan’s been the best and she loves him very deeply.
