Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar welcomed their great-nephew, Tyler, into their home a few years ago. Since then, he’s seemed to fit in well with the rest of the Duggar kids who still live at home. However, since Tyler isn’t their biological son, some fans have wondered if Josh Duggar’s latest scandal could affect their custody. After all, Josh is facing serious child pornography charges.

Josh’s trial is in November, but in the meantime, he’s living with the Rebers and must follow conditions outlined by the court. He’s not allowed to be around minors, with the exception of his own children with his wife’s supervision. Do Josh’s conditions change anything for Tyler, though?

Who Is Tyler Duggar?

For those who don’t know, Jim Bob and Michelle have custody of Tyler, who is the son of Rachel Hutchins. Rachel is Michelle’s niece. The Duggars got custody of Tyler in 2016 after both his mother and grandmother were unable to provide for him.

It looks like Tyler fits in well with the Duggars and has adjusted to his new life. On his birthday in February, the family documented a fun trip to Top Golf. In the caption of their post, Jim Bob and Michelle wrote:

Tyler is a very special part of our family and he turns 13 today! We celebrated his birthday with a fun afternoon together at Top Golf. ⛳️ I really can’t get over how much our boys grow on a weekly/monthly basis!!”

Was Jim Bob & Michelle Duggar’s Custody Of Tyler Affected By Josh?

According to The Sunthe Duggars filed their Annual Report of Guardian on October 27. So, this proves that they still have permanent custody of their great-nephew. It’s unclear if this could change depending on the outcome of Josh’s trial. However, for now, Tyler seems to be remaining at the Duggar family’s home with his many cousins.

Fans will be on the lookout for updates about the situation, including possible changes in Tyler’s living arrangements. According to court papers, Rachel “entrusted Tyler to the care and control” of the Duggars. She says she is “unable to meet Tyler’s health, safety and other needs.”

So, did you think that Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar would lose custody of Tyler over Josh’s scandal? Or do you think it’s different because Josh didn’t have custody of him? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
