Dancing With The Stars Season 30 will be here before you know it. ABC started naming a few cast members and also announced this year will feature the first ever same-sex dance partners. JoJo Siwa will take the stage with a female pro when DWTS returns on September 20.

JoJo Siwa really hopes to shine a positive light on the LGBTQ+ community through the power of dance

No one knows which celebrity contestant will be paired with which professional dancer yet. But JoJo says she would really like to compete with Lindsay Arnold, Jenna Johnson, or Britt Stewart.

JoJo went on to say that ABC representatives asked if she wanted a male or a female partner when they reached out to her about joining the competition show. The former Dance Moms star admitted she would really like a female partner.

“It’s going to be tricky, but it’s going to give so much to people out there — people of the LGBTQ community, everyone,” JoJo said. She came out as pansexual earlier this year. “I want to make it OK for the people who come after me. No matter what [my girlfriend and I] are feeling, think about how normal we’re making things for the kids that are younger than us who are feeling these things.

“It breaks a wall that’s never been broken down before,” the 18-year-old added. “Not only do I get to share that you love who you want to love, but you also get to dance with who you want to dance with.”

When the young star isn’t dancing, she also enjoys a fruitful singing career. Check out one of her videos here:

Many fans and castmates longed for same-sex couples on the show

Up until now, DWTS featured only male/female couples. Group dances incorporated multiple people, but two women never competed together before. However, that hasn’t kept fans and cast members from wishing and praying.

Pro dancer Gleb Savchenko wanted a same-sex competing couple a long time ago.

“Of course, there is a strong male/female dynamic in dance, but if you have two men doing the same thing, it would look awesome and be so fascinating,” the dancer told Mr. Warburton. “I would love to do it, but it would have to be with the right partner.”

He went on to say he really hoped Johnny Weir would be his partner in Season 29, but it didn’t happen. Johnny went to Britt Stewart and Gleb had Chrishell Stause instead. We still don’t know the rest of the cast list, so Gleb could still get his wish after all.

Who do you think JoJo Siwa’s professional dance partner will be? Be sure to let us know what you’re thinking in the comments. Be sure to tune into Dancing With The Stars when it returns to ABC on September 20.
