Kate Chastain had more to say about Hannah Ferrier’s firing. The Below Deck alum shared her thoughts in an exclusive interview with Us Weekly. Earlier on this season of Below Deck Mediterranean, Captain Sandy Yawn fired the chief stew for having unregistered Valium and a CBD pen. Sandy defended firing Hannah and Kate feels the same.
As fans know, the two ladies don’t get along. Kate previously revealed that Hannah talked about her behind her back. Below Deck Med fans recently accused Kate of throwing Hannah and chef Hindrigo “Kiko” Lorran on her spinoff series, Watch With Kate. But she’s not done talking about Hannah yet.
Kate Chastain feels Captain Sandy had no choice
She remains on Captain Sandy’s side. Kate Chastain told Us Weekly on Monday, September 28 that there was no reason to keep Hannah around. But she agrees with the fans that it wasn’t an ideal way for the Below Deck Med star to go. She just thinks it was about time.
“This decision happened because there was literally no other option,” Kate explained. “Nobody wanted Hannah to go that way. She’s been a great part of the show for so long, but because of certain laws, Sandy’s hands were tied.”
Bosun Malia White reported Hannah to Sandy. She came across her prescription of Valium, vape pen, and lighter in her belongings. Malia took a photo of the items and sent them to Sandy via text message. Fans accused her of setting up Hannah.
The drama took place during an August episode of the Bravo series. At that time, Hannah told Decider that it was “very shocking” to let go for having “anti-anxiety medication.” But Hannah is looking forward to her next journey. She’s expecting her first child with her long-time partner, Josh.
Below Deck alum thinks Hannah’s over yachting
Now that Hannah is becoming a mom, Kate has a feeling that her yachting days are behind her. Kate feels the same way. Earlier this year, she announced her respective exit from Below Deck. During the interview, Kate had nothing but good things to say about Hannah’s baby news.
“I don’t think Hannah will ever go back and I don’t blame her,” Kate said. “I’m so happy for her that she’s starting this new chapter of her life. In fact, when I heard that she had left the season as she did, I said to a friend, ‘She’ll be pregnant in six months.’ If I placed money on it, I would have won some money.”
Kate has a few projects lined up as well. She has a new series Bravo’s Chat Room, which she cohosts with Summer House star Hannah Berner, Real Housewives of Atlanta star Porsha Williams, and Real Housewives of Potomac star Gizelle Bryant.
She also shares her thoughts on Season 5 of Below Deck Mediterranean on the aforementioned show Watch With Kate.
