As of Thursday, it had 1,400 employees that will lose their jobs. The company filed for bankruptcy due to behind payments on its business interruption insurance. That led to the demise of Century 21 and the Sonja Morgan collection. RHONY fans flocked to Twitter to share their concern for the reality star.
Sonja debuted her collection last year at New York Fashion Week.
Century 21 files for bankruptcy, to shut 13 stores
The iconic New York flagship store and 12 other locations will close. RHONY fans will look forward to the going-out-of-business sales. Sonja Morgan fans will want to get their hands on her collection. On Thursday, the company said it will close all 13 of its department stores as it plans to liquidate all of its assets under chapter 11 protection in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in New York.
Shortly after the news broke, fans flocked to Twitter to express concern for Sonja Morgan. Many of them wondered what’s going to happen to her clothing line. Others were excited over the liquidation sales. But most fans shared their support for Sonja.

Sonja just launched her clothing line at Century 21 last year. It was featured during Season 12 of RHONY. At the crowded event, she said she was “humbled” by the opportunity. Sonja’s line includes clothing, fragrances, shoes, and a toaster.
