’90 Day Fiance’ Star Ariela Doesn’t Want To Convert To Christianity for Biniyam Or Their Baby
In a clip from Monday’s episode of 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way, Ariela, 28, and Biniyam, 29, visit his church in Ethiopia. He wants to ask the priest if their child can have a baptism if Ariela is not of the Christian faith. Ariela is not happy about the idea of converting to Christianity. She is also not ready to bring up their son in that faith.

While fellow castmates, Brittany and Yazan have problems over religion, Ariela and Biniyam are going through a similar issue. Being a Christian is clearly important to Biniyam, while Ariela has her own ideas. She is not willing to convert to his religion or to raise their son as a Christian.
Speaking to the TLC cameras, Ariela points out that her parents are also “not of the same religion.” Her father is Jewish, while her mother is Roman Catholic. This hasn’t affected their relationship or upbringing of their children. Ariela stresses that she has always felt “really uncomfortable with the idea of Christianity.” This is because she doesn’t believe in Hell. In fact, Ariela says the idea of Hell is “just so awful” to her. She cannot imagine teaching this to their son.

Ariela and Biniyam go to church
Biniyam identifies as an Ethiopian Orthodox Christian. In Monday night’s 90 Day Fiance episode, he and Ariela visit his church to speak to the priest. The TLC reality star wants to know if their son can be baptized as Christian if Ariela is not of that faith.
The priest tells Biniyam that their son cannot be baptized as a Christian unless Ariela is also baptized in that faith. Moreover, he tells Biniyam that before the baby can be baptized as a Christian, “he must suckle from a Christian breast.”
In an earlier episode, Ariela told her family she wants to raise their son as Jewish. Her sister questioned her decision, asking if Biniyam had any say in the matter. Ariela responds, saying he didn’t have any say. In fact, she says she found certain aspects of his religion “superstitious.”

ET recalls an interview with Ariela in June about their fast-moving relationship. The 90 Day Fiance star said Biniyam has made it clear that he is looking for a serious relationship. He wants a wife and children, a job and all that it entails. At first, Ariela was put off by this. However, she then realized she wanted to try this relationship as she really wants to start her own family.
