‘This Is Us’ How Will The Show Handle Coronavirus?
This is Us often likes to touch on real world and sensitive topics. It sounds like this season, Coronavirus will be no different. The show plans to go forward and hit the topic hard.
‘This is us’ and Coronavirus
This is us is constantly hitting on real world topics. The show is always made very promptly and feels like a real family. when it comes to COVID, that’s no different. Dan Fogleman says that they will be hitting the topic pretty hard in the coming season according to Deadline.
“Yes on Covid,” Dan said in a tweet. “We’ve decided to attack things head on. Very proud of @ThisIsUsWriters.”
Sounds like the circumstances are going to be pretty crazy. Of course, there was no elaboration on how the family will be hit by the pandemic. However, it’s sure to be a tear jerker just like all of the other episodes seem to be.

The status of the show
It’s actually great to hear an update like this. Before, Mandy Moore made it clear that she had no idea when Season Five would be able to even be filmed. Apparently, they have to wait to be cleared by the local government.
After that, Jon Huertas said that filming might not start until after Christmas. Normally the show would premier in September which is just a month away.
“I was just on the phone with Dan Fogelman and we’re talking about, you know, we may not go into production until January, depending on whether or not there’s a second wave,” Jon said. “When we talk about the protocols and the guidelines that we may be following when we go back into production. Because it’s really kind of daunting to all of us.”
According to Deadline there is still no set date to when filming will start. Dan did say though that the pandemic will not change the original ending to the season.
Despite the let down of a further out premier date, at least everyone got a tiny taste for what will happen in this season. It’s always interesting to watch the Pearson family take on different challenges that real families are facing all over the world.
