She also postponed her wedding to Orlando Bloom
This news comes after Katy Perry and her fiancé Orlando Bloom postponed their wedding for a second time. In a new interview with The Mirror, she said they would rather focus on “delivering a healthy child” as they prepare to welcome their baby girl into the world next month. The 35-year-old singer and the 43-year-old actor initially planned to get married last winter. Their next plan was to get married in Japan this summer.
“You can’t plan anymore in 2020 because those plans are always canceled,” Katy explained. “We just want to deliver a healthy child. Everyone has to take life one week at a time right now.”
Per Daily Mail, Katy echoed the same sentiments in her interview with Howard Stern. Back in March, Orlando revealed that the COVID-19 pandemic affected their wedding plans.
Smile is Katy’s fifth studio album. She wrote the title track during one of the “darkest” periods of her life. The new album will also include the previously released singles Never Really Over, Harleys in Hawaii, and Daisies.
A few months ago, Katy admitted that she felt depressed after her 2017 split from Orlando and her previous record, Witness, didn’t perform to her expectations.
