Ben Higgins And Fiancée Jessica Clarke Make This Personal Marriage Vow
Ben Higgins and Jessica Clarke are currently staying together, but are sleeping in separate beds. The couple wants to keep it that way. They plan to save themselves for their wedding night. The Bachelor alum reveals that it’s a sign of “respect” in their relationship.

Ben Higgins dished on his relationship with fiance Jess Clarke on the Wednesday, April 22 episode Viall Files podcast. He revealed that the two are staying with Clarke’s parents amid the coronavirus pandemic. But, they’re not sharing the same bed. That’s because the couple has no plans to get intimate until their wedding night.
“It’s just a respect level,” Ben Higgins told Nick Viall, as quoted by Us Weekly. “And also what the logistics of it is.”
Higgins and Clarke haven’t taken that next step in their relationship ever since they started dating in November 2018. Higgins popped the question to Clarke last month. Now, they want to focus on planning their future together. The former Bachelor admitted that he was “definitely” not intimate with her for the “last year and a half.”
The couple agreed to wait until they’re married to do so. At least, that’s the plan for now. They haven’t even set a wedding date. The former reality star admitted that they considered being intimate before but they don’t see any point to it.

We were both like, ‘Yeah, we could definitely see it.’ But what are we giving up to do that?” Higgins said. “At the end of all of this, this is Jess’ day. This is our day as a couple, but I want to make sure she has the wedding she’s always dreamed of and that she feels celebrated.”
It’s been easy since the couple has been long distance for most of their relationship. Quarantine time brought them closer together.
“I can confidently look her in the eyes and say, ‘Hey, we’ve been stuck in the house together for weeks and I’m having a blast,” Higgins admitted.
They’ve been spending time with their families. They spent time with Higgins’ parents, and then drove to Clarke’s parents, where he proposed.

The Season 20 Bachelor popped the question to his girlfriend in a beautiful field, according to USA Today. Clarke announced the news of the engagement on Instagram. She posted pictures of their respective families looking on from a distance. One photo showed Higgins down on one knee during the proposal, followed by another photo of the couple kissing.
“I don’t remember everything you said, but I know that I said yes,” Clarke wrote. “I woke up in a dream today and I get to live in this dream every day from now on.”

Higgins originally wanted to propose to Clarke during The Bachelor: Live on Stage, he said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. But when the coronavirus pandemic broke out and postponed the tour, Higgins had to make a sudden change of plans. He planned to propose to Clarke in her home state of Tennessee.
“I went back to a pond behind her house, and we had set it up with sunflowers near a bench. I proposed and her family and mine were watching from a distance, and then we all celebrated together,” Higgins said.
