Did Jana Duggar Shut Down Zach Bates’ Courtship Attempt?
The 30th birthday of Jana Duggar is fast approaching.
While many fans of the reality TV family may not consider it a big deal, Jim Bob and Michelle might. After all, Jana is setting a record. None of the other Duggar children hit the age of 30 without being married and working on children.
As The Hollywood Gossip reminds us, it is not uncommon for members of the family to wed before they turn 20. So, Jana is certainly marching to the beat of her own drum.
What is Jana Duggar waiting for?
One of the more commonly asked questions in the Counting On fan circles as of late is simple. Why is Jana Duggar still single? According to Cheatsheet, Jana had an incredible response to this question a few months ago.
In response to a fan noting they hoped she found her prince soon, Jana said:
Maybe he’s riding in on a green turtle instead of a white horse. Still searching for Mr. Right. In the words of Michael Bublé, ‘Just haven’t met [him] yet!’
Naturally, there are tons of rumors as to why Jana has not wed. For starters, many speculate she may be interested in dating women. Unfortunately, the Duggar family is very strict and religious. As such, they do not believe in marriage between two individuals of the same gender.
Another popular rumor is that Michelle and Jim Bob may have forbid her from marrying. After all, they are starting to age and still have a lot of cubs at home. It’s possible Jana Duggar has taken on a bit of a motherly role around the home. Perhaps she can’t start her own family because she’s too busy raising her current one?
Rumors circulated of a Bates and Duggar connection
For a very long time, rumors and hopes circulated. There were some desires that Jana and Lawson Bates would connect. Unfortunately, nothing seemed to come of the rumors.
According to The Hollywood Gossip, new information suggests Lawson isn’t the only member of the Bates clan to attempt to court Jana. There was a time where Zach Bates was interested in Jana.

Today, Zach is happily married to someone else. But, there was a time where he tried to court Jana. Unfortunately for him, the feelings weren’t shared.
A Reddit user close to both families revealed a courtship between Jana and Zach almost happened. But, it never got any traction.
Why was Jana not interested in Zach?
Turns out, Jana shut down Zach’s attempt at a courtship because she was interested in another. She had a crush on Chad Paine. He, however, later married Zach’s sister Erin.
“Allegedly, Jana liked Chad. Which isn’t too surprising because Chad was the ‘coveted guy’ around ATI. The jock, if you will. I didn’t know this information back then, but in the past year I’ve talked to two sisters who left ATI (who used to clean house for the Duggars) who confirmed that,” the inside source explained.
The speculation is that Jana Duggar may have been “holding out hope” for Chad.
