‘RHOC’ Star Emily Simpson’s Husband Fails Bar Exam – Again
The Real Housewives of Orange County’s Emily Simpson has been open about her troubled marriage. Many fans take issue with the way she allows her husband, Shane Simpson, to speak to her. At least part of their issues stem from his attempts to pass the California state bar exam.
Emily is a licensed lawyer, but her husband is still trying to get his license. He took the test the first time back in February. Despite moving into a hotel so he could study, he didn’t pass. His Bravolebrity wife spoke about the situation in an October appearance on Watch What Happens Live.
Did the RHOC Star’s Husband Pass Bar Exam on Second Attempt?
RHOC’s Emily was one of the many Bravo stars attending this past weekend’s fan convention in NYC. During a panel discussion, Emily opened up about her husband’s latest bar exam results. She revealed that he hadn’t checked the website yet to see if he passed or failed.
“He should have gotten them but he won’t look. I can’t figure out if he’s waiting for me to come home. He had a rough time the last time [he took the test], so I don’t know if he’s avoiding looking or he knows he messed up.”
A fan then offered to look the results up on the website, but Emily declined the offer. She insisted that she should wait until she gets home in case he was waiting for her to be there when he looked at the results.
Apparently Emily doesn’t know how the internet works. People magazine and many outlets looked up for themselves to see if Shane passed the latest bar exam. Spoiler alert: he did not pass.
Source Defends Shane, Says the California Bar is the ‘Hardest’
A source defending Shane told People that hardly anyone passed the California bar exam. However, the magazine notes that online records showed that more than half of all participants passed the same bar exam that Shane took in July.
“It’s one of the hardest bars in the country to pass. There was a 31 percent pass rate. So 69 percent of people don’t pass. It’s not like he’s in this minority where everybody passes but him.”
Emily passed the bar exam on her first try back in 2005.
RHOC Star Says She Shares Blame in Marriage Problems
During this season of The Real Housewives of Orange County, Emily suggested that the couple should attend marriage counseling to work out their resentments and other issues. Parts of their counseling sessions have aired on the reality show.
At the BravoCon panel, Emily was quick to point out that she contributes to the marriage strife by going off for no reason.
“Sometimes he’ll say stuff that’s really benign and I’ll go off. I’ll say, ‘I want a divorce and this and that.’ It’s both of us, it’s not just him.”
Emily is still recovering from her recent hip surgery. You’d never know it to look at her appearance at the weekend’s event.
