‘Counting On’: Derick Dillard’s Mom Cathy Pens A Book, ‘I Shall Not Die’
Counting On and 19 Kids and Counting fans will recall Cathy Dillard from the happier days before son Derick left the show. She struggled with cancer and fans wonder how she is these days. Anyway, it seems the full story of her struggle and other things her life are out there in the form of a book. She announced it when she wished Derick and Jill a happy fifth anniversary. The book’s titled, I Shall Not Die: My Walk Through The Valley Of Death.

Cathy Dillard keeps her Counting On fans updated on Instagram. Thousands of people follow her over there. In 2014, the news of her cancer made the rounds. She suffered from Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and really felt ill. So much so, that she couldn’t assist with wedding preparations. In fact, she missed the rehearsals because of her severe illness. However, she kept on fighting.
Through her chemo and surgeries, she finally navigated her way back to health. Now, we see that her fortitude and strength helped her get better. She’s a strong person and in 2015 announced that she was cancer-free. These days she often sees the family and shares photos of her grandchildren with Counting On fans. Derrick and Jill’s little boys play a big part in her life.
Cathy Dillard’s book – I Shall Not Die: My Walk Through The Valley Of Death
Taking to her Instagram on Derick and Jill Dillard’s fifth anniversary, she posted up about it. She said, “5 year anniversary to Derick & Jill this week! I am remembering what it took to make it to that wedding. After sharing so many of the stories over these 5 years, I finally put pen to paper and have the whole story start to finish.”
Plus, she added that the books also brings information and stories about “the (mostly) wonderful things that have happened since! For anyone who needs encouragement in a cancer battle. Or any other kind of battle.” Well, it certainly seems like Cathy Dillard’s qualified to write on those types of things. Counting On fans who deal with cancer in their families sounded thrilled with the news. In fact, some people already bought the book.
