‘When Hope Calls’ Abigail, Henry Love Story Continues In ‘WCTH’ Spinoff
When GAC aired When Hope Calls Christmas, the hoopla was over the return of Daniel Lissing reprising his role as Jack Thornton. A close second was the return of Lori Loughlin, on television for the first time since her scandal, reprising her role as Abigail Stanton.
However, one of the most sizzling stories is the slow, smoldering romance between Henry Gowan (Martin Cummins) and Abigail Stanton. Abigail leaving Hope Valley didn’t put a damper on that flame.
Moreover, this story continued in the recent Christmas special.
An Important Letter In When Hope Calls
In GAC Family’s recent two-part When Hope Calls Christmas, Abigail Stanton ventures into Brookfield on an important mission. There is a troubled boy that needs a home, and she knows the right orphanage for him.
However, Abigail also has something else on her mind. But, what is it?
She brings a letter to be mailed, and tells the woman at the counter, “It’s important. Please be careful with it.” The woman assures her, “I promise you. This will get to Henry Gowan.”
Later, at the very beginning of the second episode, Abigail is shown peering into the place where she dropped off her precious letter.
She heard a voice behind her, assuring her that all is ok. It is Jack Thornton (Daniel Lissing). “She’s gone for the night, but I’m sure she mailed your letter.”
Before Abigail awakens from her dream, Ghost Jack talks to her about true love. Although he is talking about Elizabeth moving on, this message is clearly for Abigail herself.
Henry And Abigail Write To Each Other
Hearties learned during When Calls The Heart Season 8 that Henry and Abigail regularly write to each other. Even though Henry was responsible for the coal mining death of Abigail’s husband and son, as well as so many others from the town, Abigail saw something redeeming about him that forever changed him.
Henry even told his son Christopher (James Drew Dean) a bit about her forgiveness and redemption. He credited Abigail, without naming her.
But, it is with Ned (Hrothgar Matthews) that Henry lays all of his cards on the table. This is when Ned was starting to get cold feet before his wedding. “Well, when two people only see the good in one another or when one see something in the other that he can’t remotely see in himself, I figure that’s a gift. Treasure it, Nick.”
While Ned was getting married, Henry had regrets, and plainly said so. After Ned commented on how Henry was frequently writing Abigail, Henry opened his heart and showed his pain.
“When I sit at my desk and I look out my window across at the cafe, and I see her name, I’ve got nothing but regret.”
Will Romance Continue In When Hope Calls Or WCTH?
Now, the question is whether the upcoming Hallmark WCTH Season 9 or the remaining episodes of GAC Family’s When Hope Calls will feature more letters? We can assume that this will happen.
Although the original show and the spinoff are on different networks, Brian Bird, the co-creator, remains the same. This cross-show, cross-network letter-writing will keep Hearties happy for only so long.
The question remains, when will Abigail and Henry reunite?
