Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar are finally speaking out after their son, Josh, received a guilty verdict on Thursday, December 9. Fans and critics have been awaiting a statement from the Duggars following the guilty verdict.

As The Sun reported on Thursday, the Duggar family reacted to the verdict while in the courtroom. However, only a few family members were present. Jim Bob, Justin, Claire, Derick, and Anna were all there, as well as Hilary Spivey (Justin’s mother-in-law).

When the verdict was declared, Josh reportedly had tears in his eyes but wasn’t crying. His younger brother Justin cried after hearing the news. As Josh was taken into custody, he told Anna that he loves her. The Sun also reports that Jim Bob gave his daughter-in-law a hug.

Beyond that, however, we didn’t see any reactions from the family, making it difficult to know what they were thinking. The family moved quickly from the courthouse to a large SUV. Now, the Duggar family is beginning to speak out, and Michelle and Jim Bob were the first ones to break the silence.

Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar share their thoughts on Josh’s verdict.

Just hours after Josh was taken into custody, the Duggars are speaking out.

In a new blog post on the Duggar Family Blog, Jim Bob and Michelle shared their thoughts on Josh’s verdict. They titled it, “A statement regarding Joshua Duggar’s guilty verdict.” They specifically point out that this statement is from them rather than their entire family.

“This entire ordeal has been very grievous. Today, God’s grace, through the love and prayers of so many, has sustained us. Our hearts and prayers are with anyone who has ever been harmed through CSAM. In the days ahead, we will do all we can to surround our daughter-in-law Anna and their children with love and support. As parents, we will never stop praying for Joshua, and loving him, as we do all of our children. In each of life’s circumstances, we place our trust in God. He is our source of strength and refuge. Thank you for your prayers.”

  1. Given the circumstances, I’m sure that was the best they could do as far as a statement. They’re his parents. What do people expect them to say?

  2. Good for them! They don’t stick up for Josh. They support Anna, they love their son but obviously know he has issues that he is now paying for. As parents, what else can you say. I’m proud of them for not defending Josh but still loving him as all parents should.

  3. They did the best they could under the circumstances.Even parents who have a child on Death Row continue to love them. There is enough sadness and hurt for everybody!

  4. If you aren’t a parent. Don’t even respond. They are heartbroken. But they still love their son Josh needs the discipline , and the children are innocent. But I’m wondering what planet Anna is from. Yes support your husband. But you know it’s true Come clean. Come on!!

  5. Were they efficient? The question wasn’t very efficient at all. Surely your article deserved a stronger ending. A more “efficient” ending. . As parents, we do not expect our children to be monsters or do monstrous things. We always picture our babies and toddlers. Even when they’re wrong, we long for and remember their ages of innocence.. They worded their response well. They support their daughter in law and love their son, even though he is wrong (as a parent should). They do not support what he did even though they love him.they are not wrong. He is.
