Jon Gosselin Still Loves Colleen, Stands By Her During Cancer Treatments
Despite breaking up, Jon Gosselin’s love for his ex-girlfriend Collen Conrad remains strong as he stands by her and supports her amid her cancer treatments.
Jon Gosselin and Colleen Conrad broke up in August
As we previously reported, Jon Gosselin and Collen Conrad confirmed their breakup in August. News of the split came just months after Collen was diagnosed with breast cancer. Jon also made an appearance on The Dr. Oz Show recently. During his appearance on the show, he opened up a bit more amount his breakup with Collen. The former TLC star explained the couple had issues prior to her receiving her cancer diagnosis.
We had ongoing issues previous to our breakup and previous to her diagnosis, so we had trouble in the relationship for a long time and didn’t really want any stress during her treatment. So we thought it was best that we just stop our relationship and work on our friendship and get her through her treatment.”
As a couple, Jon and Colleen decided that she needed to focus on her health and her cancer treatments. She didn’t need to also be bogged down with her struggling relationship. So, they decided to end their relationship and focus on just being friends while she recovered.
He still loves and supports her amid the breakup
Despite breaking things off with Colleen Conrad, Jon Gosselin never stopped loving her. He reveals that he’s continued to support her during her cancer treatments. But, focusing on her health was more important than dealing with their relationship issues.
He continued to explain as he admits the breakup was a mutual decision: “It was good for my kids too, that I focus on them as well and focus on other things that were going on in my life, other projects and work as well. Then I could really focus on helping my friend get through her cancer.”
I’ll always love Colleen and we’re friends and it wasn’t because of cancer.”
Initially, Jon Gosselin caught a lot of heat for the timing of their breakup. But, both he has repeatedly expressed cancer had nothing to do with the breakup.
In fact, the former TLC star makes it sound as if he may have continued to fight for the relationship to work if Colleen wasn’t in a difficult place where she needed to focus on her health and recovery.
Once Colleen Conrad concludes her treatment and recovers, perhaps Jon Gosselin might try winning her back. Only time will tell. For now, Jon just wants to continue to be there for his very dear friend.
