Nayte Olukoya Clueless About First Impression Rose Importance On ‘The Bachelorette’
Michelle Young made her debut on ABC as The Bachelorette Tuesday night. She met a lot of men and with the help of Kaitlyn Bristowe and Tayshia Adams she narrowed them down to kick off her journey. One man, Nayte Olukoya made a huge first impression on Michelle. In fact, he received her coveted first impression rose. However, it seems Nayte wasn’t quite sure just how important that rose was. Keep reading to find out what he had to say.
Nayte Olukoya had no clue the first impression rose was so important
Nayte Olukoya not only got the first impression rose, he also got the first kiss of the season. Michelle Young was impressed with Nayte on her first night as The Bachelorette. Of course, the first impression rose guarantees him moving on to week two. However, while Bachelor Nation knows how important this first rose is, Nayte had no idea.
Bachelor Nation shared what Nayte had to say on the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast about receiving the rose. Nayte Olukoya from Austin, Texas was shocked to learn the rose was important.
He said, “With the First Impression Rose, I assumed it was who Michelle had a really good first impression of, but I didn’t have a clue what it meant in the world of Bachelor Nation. Rodney was my roommate, so later that day he was like, ‘Man, that’s big time getting the First Impression Rose.’”
What is the importance of the first impression rose?
Becca Kufrin also schooled Nayte in why the first impression rose is so important. Reality Steve had also touched on the subject in a recent blog post. Becca said, “Usually with Bachelorettes, there’s a really good track record of whoever gets that First Impression Rose is the last man standing and who typically she gets engaged to.”
Nayte said that even if he’d known when receiving the rose how important he was, he doesn’t think he would have remembered. Nayte said he was so nervous it was as if he blacked out and doesn’t remember some of what they discussed.
The first rose surprised but so did the first kiss. Nayte said, “That first kiss — I was not expecting that. That caught me off guard. It’s nerve-wracking to go in for the first kiss. I’ve never been that smooth guy who’s good at pulling those off like what you see in the movies. So she kissed me, and you see that genuine reaction where I was not expecting it, but boy was I happy.”
He also mentioned that now he will want to kiss her every time he sees Michelle Young.
