The Highlands beckon: Falling For Figaro for IFC

The Scottish Highlands serve as the stunning backdrop for this rich and romantic tale from award-winning director Ben Lewin.

Falling For Figaro follows a gifted young fund manager named Millie (Macdonald), who quits her job and exits a going-nowhere relationship with her long-term boyfriend to fulfill her dream of becoming an opera singer.

Millie has talented vocal chops but needs an opera singer’s discipline and training. So enter an opportunity to study with a renowned operatic star. And the catch? Meghan Geoffrey-Bishop (Lumley) cannot abide by Millie’s lack of understanding of the sacrifices she needs to make and lack of preparatory skills in the opera department.

Regardless, Millie sails forward and begins intense vocal training lessons with Geoffrey-Bishop, who slowly warms to her. But then, unexpected romance enters the picture for Millie when she meets handsome Max (Hugh Skinner), another of Meghan’s students.

Millie dives into intense vocal training lessons with this fearsome and exacting singing teacher and former opera diva,  Geoffrey-Bishop (Lumley). Max is another of Meghan’s students, also training for the upcoming Singer of Renown, a reality TV competition contest.

The friction between students Millie and Max gradually becomes a bonafide romance, and the competition between Millie and Max slowly evolves into something different and more profound.
