Britney Spears FREE From Dad’s Conservatorship, Jamie Steps Down
For several weeks now, Britney Spears fans have been on the edge of their seats. The #FreeBritney movement gains momentum as trials began to address the pop star’s dad, Jamie Spears, and her conservatorship. Throughout the years, there has been mounting concern about the health and overall welfare of Britney Spears. Much of the concern comes from the fact that Britney regularly posts what fans saw as cryptic posts on her social media. Now, Britney Spears is free.
A public meltdown may have contributed to the conservatorship
Many fans may remember the mental health issues Britney Spears allegedly went through in 2008. Sadly, she had a very public meltdown. Ultimately, this meltdown becomes an American pop culture reference, and memes of Britney shaving her head or looking bewildered in public flood the internet.
In 2008, Jamie Spears, Britney Spears’ dad takes charge of her finances through a conservatorship. Interestingly enough, some places call a conservatorship legal guardianship. While this whole case is strange, it is even more so given the fact that Britney is 37 years old.
According to ABC, Jamie Spears steps down in 2019 due to “personal affairs.” At that time, Jodi Montgomery, a professional fiduciary, was put in place of Jamie Spears. Last November, the California Supreme Court rejects Britney’s request to remove her father as conservator. Then, the court approves the wealth management firm, Bessemer Trust, to be co-conservator.
After Britney Spears’ bombshell testimony in June, Bessemer Trust resigns from their role with her conservatorship. Once again, Jamie became the sole conservator of Britney’s finances. However, the pop princess doesn’t give up. She ends up getting a new attorney, Mathew Rosengart. Mathew is a former federal prosecutor and based on his successes with this case so far, he doesn’t play around.
Britney Spears gets a new attorney and sees progress in her case against her father
In July, Rosengart files paperwork that requests a professional fiduciary replaces Jamie as the conservator of his client’s estate. The request alleges that the current situation has “grown increasingly toxic and is simply no longer tenable.” At the time of this writing, Jamie Spears and his attorney, Vivian Thoreen have not given their comments to the media. However, Rosengart shares with ABC News that he is “pleased that Mr. Spears and his lawyer have conceded in a filing that he must be removed.” Ultimately, he calls this development “vindication for Britney.”
Britney Spears is celebrating in Maui
From the looks of her Instagram, Britney Spears is celebrating from Maui. She posts a video of herself dancing in a couple of different outfits. While it is hard to tell what she means by her lengthy caption, it is apparent that she is happy. Not only is she happy, but it seems like there is more news to come about Britney Spears.
