The show must go on! Dancing With The Stars struggled to keep production running during the 2020 season, but managed to pull it off anyway. And all the hard work really paid off. According to the official Dancing With The Stars Instagram page, ABC earned 23 Emmy nominations. DWTS made up five of those.
Dancing With The Stars pulled off a spectacular season in spite of challenges
DWTS Season 29 may have had some challenges, but it still produced many unforgettable routines.
It probably won’t come as a surprise to many that Season 29 champion Artem Chigvintsev is among the Emmy nominees. After a bumpy season, he and Kaitlyn Bristowe managed to take home the Mirrorball Trophy and amaze viewers all over the country.
Artem is up for the “Oustanding Choreography for Reality or Variety Programming.” His work on the Argentine Tango that he and Kaitlyn performed really turned heads. The pair earned a perfect score from the judges, including Carrie Ann Inaba. Inaba infamously quarreled with the pair throughout the season.
You can relive their glowing performances here:
Many DWTS fans would love to see Artem take home the Emmy, but he has some competition. Judge Derek Hough is also nominated in the same choreography for his stunning Paso Doble he performed with Hayley Erbert.
If you had to choose between Derek and Artem’s routines, which would you vote for? Be sure to let us know in the comments.
So what are the other categories?
Fans love Dancing With The Stars for dancing and choreography. But the show also managed to snag Emmy nominations in other categories.
The other nominations include, “Outstanding Design/Lighting Direction for a Variety Series,” “Outstanding Contemporary Makeup for a Variety, Nonfiction, or Reality Program (Non-Prosthetic),” and “Outstanding Contemporary Hairstyling for a Variety, Nonfiction, or Reality Program.”
Do you think the show will be able to win these categories? We’d love to know what you have to say.
Don’t forget to tune into Season 30
We know Dancing With The Stars will return to ABC this September. The network confirmed all the judges and Tyra Banks will come back. However, some fans are worried about Carrie Ann Inaba. The judge recently took some time away from hosting The Talk to focus on her health. Will she be well enough to judge DWTS?
“She was there way before I was,” Tyra Banks said in an interview with ET when they asked about Carrie Ann. She added that she will “beg” Carrie Ann to return if she has to.
ABC still hasn’t announced an official cast list. However, we’re sure Season 30 will be one of the best seasons yet. Be sure to follow TV Shows Ace on social media for the latest DWTS news.
If you want to tune into the Emmys, you can watch the awards show at 8 PM on September 19. You’ll definitely want to see how Dancing With The Stars does.
