Deadliest Catch Season 17, Episode 2 Boat Wreck: Who Got Hit?

Deadliest Catch spoilers reveal things get pretty heated pretty early on in Season 17, Episode 2. Captain Keith Colburn of FV Wizard decides he’s going to team up with Captain Scott Campbell, Jr after initially turning him down during the Season 17 Premiere.  Prior to making plans with Junior of Lady Alaska.

Captain Keith makes plans to work with Junior to box in the crabs. But, not before he replenishes his supply. Unfortunately, things go a little sideways while he’s getting more bait for his vessel.

Not responding on the radio, the boat bringing him bait ends up circling in front of him. Captain Keith immediately becomes irate. He starts screaming and cursing on the radio. Keith continues to urge the other vessel to get out of the way. The two boats, however, do end up colliding.

Keith continues to curse out the other vessel on the radio asking what they were thinking or if something went wrong. He even gets off the radio to yell curse words in his cabin. Once he calms down just a smidge he hops back on the radio to listen to what happened and to wish the other boat well before going to check the damage.

Spoilers: Did Captain Keith Colburn’s Boat Take On Any Damage?

His crew explains there is a space under the vessel for this time of situation. The idea is that this space will take on water as opposed to the whole boat taking on water in a boat wreck. After checking things out a member of the crew goes down for a better look. They don’t appear to have taken on any water. The crew confirms they don’t even see any indents in the metal of the boat. So, things look pretty good considering.

Checking the outside of the boat, it becomes clear the anchor of the boat took most of the impact from the collision. Captain Keith notes the other vessel got incredibly lucky. He notes the bow of his boat would have plowed through their vessel and ripped it into two pieces. Other than a few scraps and a few chips, it doesn’t look like FV Wizard took on any real damage.

This was extremely relieving to Captain Keith Colburn. After all, he still has a lot of crabs to catch! You can watch the episode featuring this boat wreck next week on Discovery.
