Iconic ‘Sister, Sister’ Star Joining ‘Days Of Our Lives’
An iconic sitcom star is joining the daytime soap Days of Our Lives. Well-known for her roles on 227 and Sister, Sister, Jackée Harry is the newest DOOL cast member. What did she share about her new role?
Jackée Harry Announces DOOL Gig
Jackée Harry isn’t a stranger to soaps. Her first TV job was on the now-cancelled NBC soap Another World. During an appearance on the Today show, the actress dropped the surprising news about her new DOOL role. She was promoting her OWN network Christmas movie, A Christmas For Mary.
According to the iconic actress, she will be creating a completely new role on DOOL. Of her new character, she says, “She’s fabulous. You know I play the fabulous woman, you know that.” She additionally reveals that her character has a daughter, per Soap Opera Digest. It’s not clear if her daughter is a character already on the canvas or a new character, too.
Jackée Harry reveals that the storyline is a “brand-new storyline with African-Americans.” She praises DOOL for being at the forefront of “hiring minorities” and giving the audience “diversity.”
Fans are already speculating on Twitter that her new role may have a connection to Lani (Sal Stowers) or Eli (Lamon Archey.) Other fans hope she is a romantic partner for Abe (James Reynolds.)
Viewers will likely have to wait a bit until she makes her big DOOL appearance. The daytime sudser films several months in advance.
OWN’s A Christmas For Mary
Oprah Winfrey’s television network, OWN, is airing a slate of Christmas-themed movies this year. While Hallmark and Lifetime both have their own slew of holiday movies, the networks lack diversity.
First up is A Christmas For Mary. Along with Jackée Harry, Vivica A. Fox and Morgan Dixon (Being Mary Jane) star in the OWN holiday movie. Jackée Harry plays the mom of Morgan Dixon’s character, while Vivica A. Fox takes on the role of her mean boss.
A Christmas For Mary airs on Tuesday, December 8.
Other OWN Christmas movies include Cooking Up Christmas airing on Tuesday, December 15. Furthermore, First Christmas airs Tuesday, December 22.
DOOL Winter Preview Teases the Return of Several Fan Favorites
Jackée Harry isn’t the only surprise DOOL has in store for viewers this winter. Several beloved actors are bringing their characters back to Salem. This week James Lastovic returns as Joey, Steve (Stephen Nichols) and Kayla’s (Mary Beth Evans) son. Nadia Bjorlin also recently returned as Chloe, promptly mixing it up with Brady (Eric Martsolf) and Philip (Jay Kenneth Johnson.)
Fans will see Will (Chandler Massey) return to town, but it seems Sonny (Freddie Smith) isn’t with him.
Anna (LeAnn Hunley) and Tony (Thaao Penghlis) return to the DiMera mansion for the holidays.
