Shondaland Bridgerton Trailer Reveals Racy Regency Series
On Monday, Netflix released the first Bridgerton teaser trailer. This is from Shondaland’s first Netflix series, based on the Julia Quinn Novels.
According to the Netflix trailer, it is Tuesday, April 6, 1813. Lady Whistledown’s page is out. Voiced by the incomparable Julie Andrews, she doesn’t just write about the scandal in London, she names names.
And she comes with an ominous threat. “You do not know me and never shall, but be forewarned, dear reader: I certainly know you.”
As scenes from a spectacular ball are shown, we hear Julie’s voice. “The social season is upon us. We shall discover which young ladies might succeed at securing a match.”
Then she warns, as the images go from the ball, to some risqué scenes, behind closed doors. “Let it be known, if there’s a scandal, I shall uncover it … and share every last detail.”
What kind of scandal? You will have to find out on Christmas Day, December 25.
New Netflix Series Brings Scandal, Romance
What is the new Shondaland series about? In Bridgerton Season 1, Netflix viewers learn about the powerful family, and the “competitive” Regency marriage mart. Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor, Younger), is the eldest daughter, and she makes her debut. Will she become this season’s “incomparable”? The mysterious Lady Whistledown’s top pick is Daphne.
While many other young ladies are looking for rank and wealth, Daphne is a romantic. Daphne is looking for true love. Her parents found it, but thanks to her older brother Anthony (Jonathan Bailey, Broadchurch), she may never get close. That is because Anthony has scared a lot of prospective suiters away.
Who is the most desirable suitor of them all? Why, Anthony’s good friend, Simon Bassett, the Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page, Roots). He is rebellious, a bit of a rogue and doesn’t ever want to marry.
But the scheming matchmaking mamas are convinced that their daughter will make him change his mind. Daphne and Simon devise a plan so that she can get a chance at finding true love, and he can get the matchmakers off of his back.
Meanwhile, sparks are flying. Have the couple found their happily ever after? Escape into Regency London with this fun, seductive and scandalous series that features a diverse cast.
