Eboni K. Williams will join RHONY as the first black cast member. This comes after Garcelle Beauvais made history as the first black woman on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Previously, rumors swirled that motivational coach Bershan Shaw would join the series as well. However, that only turned out to be a rumor, so far.
The news about Eboni joining the show is for real. Bravo confirmed the news. She will join the show alongside Leah McSweeney, Luann de Lesseps, Ramona Singer, and Sonja Morgan. There have been calls for a cast shakeup to take place, especially after a disappointing Season 12.
The news is true!
On Thursday, October 8, People confirmed the news of Eboni K. Williams joining the cast of RHONY. However, TMZ was the first to report the news earlier that day. The new cast member released a statement to the outlet. Eboni exclaimed that she’s excited to be a part of the popular reality show.
“NYC is filled with successful and dynamic Black women. I’m excited to join this legendary franchise as the first Black housewife,” she said in a statement. “Can’t wait to share a slice of life in this city that hasn’t been seen before. Anyone who’s aware of my work knows I don’t hold back. I’m going to keep it just as real here as I do everywhere else.”
The 37-year-old works as the host and executive producer of Revolt Black News. In addition, she has credits on Fox News, Fox Sports, NBA 2K, among others. Eboni earned her law degree at Loyola University New Orleans College of Law. There, she received her Juris Doctor degree, in which she specialized in family law and civil litigation.
The North Carolina-native is also an author. In 2017, she released her book titled Pretty Powerful: Appearance, Substance & Success. Eboni’s casting comes after RHONY lost both Tinsley Mortimer and Dorinda Medley. Tinsley left the show mid-season to move to Chicago to be with her fiance Scott Kluth. Back in August, Dorinda announced her departure from the show after five seasons.
How do RHONY fans feel?
Bravo fans are very outspoken about their favorite show. @Bravohousewives shared the news on Instagram. In the comments section, RHONY fans shared their thoughts on Eboni. Most of them are excited to see how she will fit in with the rest of the cast. Others wonder how she’ll get along with Ramona.
- “She looks too sane for the cast. Also she’s successful in her own right, I feel like those types don’t survive long on NY. The veterans are mostly washed up trophy wives lamenting days of old.”
- “I wonder how many ignorant but ‘innocent’ comments/questions Ramona will make/have… Hope this lady can hold her own and gracefully read.. it’s time.”
- “Wondering how this is going to go with Ramona!”
- “She’ll put Ramona in her place.”

The big question on everyone’s mind is how will Ramona get along with new RHONY cast member, Eboni Williams? According to one #RHONY alum, not too well. Kristen Taekman recently told @behindvelvetrope Podcast, “Because of people like Ramona, all of the Housewives get a bad rap." She added, It’s just sad and she gets away with it, season after season and year after year.” To hear what Kristen had to say about her predictions for the future of the show and current cast members, Link In Bio for this @behindvelvetrope episode! #RHONY 🍎
@Bravohousewives also shared this photo of Eboni hanging out with Leah. It seems like she’s already fitting in well with the fellow newbie castmember.
