October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Many celebrities of all television genres speak out to help raise awareness. CBS actress Courtney Hope recently opened up about the prevalence of breast cancer in her own family.

But days before her vulnerable post, she shared the happy news that her The Bold & The Beautiful character is coming with her to The Young & The Restless.

Sally Spectra Moving To Genoa City

Courtney Hope joined B&B in 2017 as Sally Spectra, the niece of another legendary character with the same name. This summer Courtney Hope announced her “abrupt” departure from the daytime soap. But two weeks later, she revealed her new gig with The Young & The Restless.

At the time, not much was known about her role on B&B’s sister soap. Courtney Hope revealed on Instagram this week that she will be playing Sally Spectra on Y&R, too. People reports that Sally Spectra was “last seen in August when she fled Genoa City after her plan to win her ex Wyatt back failed.”

Courtney Hope’s first airdate on Y&R is November 3rd.

Courtney Hope Gets Real About Breast Cancer In Her Family

The Young & The Restless actually featured a breast cancer storyline earlier this year. Fan-favorite Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) found a lump in her breast that turned out to be cancerous.

In real-life, Courtney Hope knows a lot about breast cancer. The actress wrote a revealing post to go along with a revealing photo. In the Instagram caption, she gave a long look at her family’s history with breast cancer.

Her uncle – yes, uncle – was diagnosed with breast cancer. In her post, she revealed that he “passed away” due to the cancer. Throughout her post, she encourages men, as well as women, to regularly check their breasts. It is a common misconception that breast cancer is something only women get.

The Y&R actress further opened up about her own experience with getting cysts in her breasts. She wrote that she’s had “30 cysts” since the age of 17. While she’s only in her thirties, she told her followers that she just had her first mammogram. The general health recommendation is for women to get routine mammograms beginning at 40-years-old. In fact, many insurance companies won’t cover mammograms before that age. However, breast cancer doesn’t care if you’re 31 or 40!

For the attention-grabbing photo, the actress donned a pink high-rise thong… And not much else. She holds up a pink paper in front of her breasts to promote a breast awareness partnership.

Courtney Hope teamed up with @loungeunderwear to encourage her followers to #feelyourbreast. The hashtag promotes self-examinations, which are often how lumps are first noticed.

If you haven’t had your annual breast exam, now is the time!

The Young & The Restless airs weekdays on CBS.
