Doctor Who star Jodie Whittaker stars in one of the most popular sci-fi shows in the world. So, it would make sense that she would believe in aliens. Right? The actress revealed that she believes on life on other planets. She opened up about some of her personal beliefs in a new interview.
The 37-year-old actress plays the Doctor on the BBC series. On the show, she fights her share of aliens and monsters. Jodie Whittaker said that she “100%” believes in extraterrestrial life. This comes after she confirmed that she will return to Doctor Who for another season.
Jodie Whittaker talks about her beliefs
In an exclusive interview with The Guardian, the actress felt comfortable with talking about her beliefs. Whittaker revealed that she’s “agnostic” and “spiritual.” She’s a believer in “aliens” and “the energy of things.” Whittaker revealed that she “100%” believes that there are aliens floating around in space.
“I mean, it can’t just be us,” Whittaker said. “I don’t know if we’ve had contact, but we are aliens to someone.”
Maybe it’s one of the reasons why she took on the role of the Time Lord on Doctor Who, the longest running British sci-fi series.
“Beyond our linear and history and galaxy, there has to be life in a way that maybe we can’t even pinpoint as life.”
Even though she’s played the lead title character in the hit BBC series, Whittaker says she doesn’t get recognized in public.
“I can walk down the road and no one looks at me twice,” she added. “I’ve got zero presence in my real life. I can get on the bus and tube [subway] without anyone batting an eyelid.”
Of course, she walks around incognito. Whittaker admits that she often wears a hat and earphones while out in public. She blends right in with the rest of the locals. Whittaker’s hot alien take comes after she let it slip that she will star in Doctor Who for Season 13 in 2021.
She will take part in more adventures in one more season of ‘Doctor Who’
Whittaker also made time for an interview with Entertainment Weekly. That’s when she accidentally revealed that she will be back for one more season as the Doctor. She seemed very excited about the news. Whittaker couldn’t contain her excitement when she was asked by EW if she would return for another run. It’s no surprise that the actress is dedicated to her new role.
“Yes, I’m doing another season,” Whittaker said when asked if she will be back. “That might be a massive exclusive that I’m not supposed to say, but it’s unhelpful for me to say [I don’t know] because it would be a massive lie!”
Whittaker’s confirmation will come as a treat to fans. She has been applauded by critics and fans alike for bringing a fresh approach to the show. Whittaker is the first ever female portrayal of the iconic Doctor. Ever since Whittaker appeared on the series, some of its series have been centered around social justice issues.
Peter Capaldi served as the longest-serving Doctor on the series since its revival kicked off in 2005. Matt Smith appeared on the show for eleven seasons while David Tennant was on the series for 10 seasons. However, in the entire history of Doctor Who, Jon Pertwee’s Third and Tom Baker’s Fourth lasted the longest.
