‘My 600-Lb. Life’ James Bedard Suffers Tragic Loss While Filming
My 600-Lb. Life star James Bedard suffered a tragic loss during the filming of his episode that airs tonight on TLC. It was about halfway through the episode — and after his first visit with Dr. Now — that someone very close to him passed away.
Admitting pretty early on that he struggled with eating his emotions, the sudden death of a loved one didn’t do him any favors on his weight loss journey. Who was it that passed away? And, how much did this death set James Bedard back on his weight loss journey?
My 600-Lb. Life star James Bedard suffers tragic loss
During the filming of his My 600-Lb. Life episode, James Bedard suffered a sudden and tragic loss. He explained to the cameras that his father passed away. James revealed the entire family was struggling with the sudden and unexpected loss. During therapy, James reveals that his father fell down, had a heart attack, and they were not able to resuscitate him.
James Bedard was forced to call Dr. Now and get his next appointment pushed back a month. He explained to Dr. Now he was busy picking up the emotional pieces of his family. While Dr. Now is not a fan of people putting anything before their health, he was understanding of James dealing with a tragic loss.
A month came and passed, and James decided to avoid Dr. Now. He said he believed he had made progress with his weight loss. But, he was still dealing with the sudden death of his father. So, he could not make it to Houston. He wasn’t sure how to tell Dr. Now, so he just avoided him. Dr. Now called James and told him he needed to get his butt to Houston for a follow-up appointment. So, he did.
In six months, James Bedard barely loses 20 pounds. James is happy with his progress. Dr. Now, however, points out it will take him 10 years to lose the weight he needs to lose at this rate.

Unfortunately, as we previously reported, there isn’t much of an update on where James Bedard is now. We know he lost 119 pounds in the year the production team followed him for his episode of My 600-Lb. Life. But, his lack of social media profiles bars fans from getting any further updates on where he is now.
