The Winner Of Survivor 41…

Erika Casupanan was the nearly unanimous winner of the 41st Season of Survivor. Beating out runners-up DeShawn and Xander, who got 1 and 0 votes respectively. She’s a fantastic player who proved, yet again, that one of the strongest strategies in the game is the social, under the radar style of gameplay. On top of that, she also has set multiple firsts amongst Survivor winners that she and she alone can claim for the time being.

Erika is the first Filipino winner in the history of the show. She’s also the first Canadian winner in the history of the show. And there’s even more. Her victory marks the third time ever that a woman of color has placed 1st in the show. The previous two being Vecepia from Season 4: Marquesas and Natalie in Season 29: Blood Vs. Water.

Overall that gives Erika plenty of accolades, in addition to the already impressive accolade of becoming the Sole Survivor.

Drop The 4, Keep The 1

Long time host of the show Jeff Probst coined a phrase at the beginning of the season that he used consistently throughout. “Drop the 4, keep the 1”. And there were certainly a number of reinventions within the season that made it feel new, and also brought back some feelings from older Survivor seasons as well.

It was an extremely fast paced season. The shortest in the history of the game at 26 days. Add to that the least food, water and supplies since the early years of the show and what you’re left with is a brutal and quick 26 days that pushed every player to their limits.

Season 42 was announced at the reunion show. It will follow a similar format to Season 41, as it was filmed directly after the season had ended. It will bring 18 new players into the game and will be premiering in the spring of 2022.
