As we reported, Jim Bob shockingly announced his run for Arkansas State Senate between his son Josh’s arrest and his trial. Fans and critics were stunned by this decision given everything going on with the Duggar family during that time. There were also many opportunities for Jim Bob to back out of the race, but he never did. Even after his son Josh was convicted for receiving and possessing child pornography, Jim Bob continued promoting his campaign that same day.
Fans have been flooding the comments sections of Jim Bob’s campaign social media posts, urging him to drop out. Jim Bob’s former close friend Jim Holt explained how the aspiring politician had been deceitful over the years. His own son-in-law, Derick Dillard, called him out for lying, too. Derick even went so far as to encourage Arkansas citizens to vote for a different Republican candidate.
Plus, many people questioned Jim Bob’s family values while he stood by his son Josh’s side amid his child porn trial. However, one of Jim Bob’s children, Jedidiah, continued to promote his father’s campaign, urging Arkansas voters to get out there on Tuesday.

Jim Bob Duggar’s Primary Election Results Released
On Tuesday evening, the primary election results came in, revealing Jim Bob’s fate. The former TLC star received the second least votes of all four Republican candidates. He received just 15.34% of the Republican vote. On election day, 2,770 Republican ballots were cast. 202 early votes came in for Republican candidates as well.
Colby Fulfer and Steve Unger will go head-to-head in a run-off election in January. Then, in February, the winner of that election will be up against the Democratic winner, Lisa Parks.
