For months, Counting On fans were convinced that Jana Duggar was courting Stephen Wissmann. They were spotted together, causing rumors to fly about the two of them dating. However, the speculation finally died down in August 2021.
With plenty of other things going on with the Duggars, from Josh’s arrest and trial to Jeremiah’s courtship with another Wissmann, fans quickly forgot about Jana and Stephen. But now, new details about the rumored couple have surfaced. What is their relationship status now?
In case you’re unfamiliar with the rumors about Jana and Stephen, the Wissmanns are friends with the Duggars. The families have known each other for years, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if their kids ended up together.
There has been heavy speculation about Jana’s relationships over the years. The eldest Duggar daughter will celebrate her 32nd birthday next month. At this point, she hasn’t announced a relationship.
It’s not that there is anything wrong with her staying single. It’s simply different from the rest of her family’s relationships. One of her brothers, Justin, even got married when he was just 18 years old.

On Tuesday evening, new information about the rumored relationship has surfaced. This comes months after the rumors about the pair settled down, so it’s quite a shock.
In a new Instagram post, Katie Joy of Without a Crystal Ball reveals relationship details that have been confirmed by people close to the family. In her post, Katie writes:
“Jana and Stephen Wissmann were courting. This was actually confirmed to me by one of Stephen’s sisters and a family friend. Both the sister and Wissmann family friend stated that the two 100% had a relationship. After Josh was arrested the relationship seemed to cool off. There was no specific reason given. Nor could anyone say what the status was at the moment. Stephen & Jana are both very private and rarely spoke about the relationship to anyone. So yea, they did date. They were courting. Today it seems that everyone agrees the relationship ended during the months Josh’s case waned on before trial.”
So, it looks like all of the rumors about Jana and Stephen were, in fact, true. However, the relationship didn’t end how fans hoped it would. It’s unclear what’s next for Jana. The Duggar daughter recently received a written citation for child endangerment, so things are complicated right now. Fans are interested to see what her future holds.
