Who Called Daniel Lissing And Convinced Him To Reprise Jack Thornton Role?
Daniel Lissing is starring in the upcoming When Hope Calls Christmas. He is reprising his role as Jack Thornton, the role he played for five seasons on Hallmark’s When Calls The Heart.
How did he wind up back on the show? Speaking to Deidre Behar from Entertainment Tonight, he revealed how he wound up on the GAC Family show.
Turns out, it was his former WCTH co-star Lori Loughlin. Lissing revealed that the actress who is portraying Abigail Stanton asked him to come on the series. The idea of working with her again appealed to him.
However, Lissing made sure that he was honoring the fans, and “honoring Elizabeth’s storyline on the other show.” He was referring to his old show, When Calls The Heart, and his character’s widow, Elizabeth Thornton, portrayed by Erin Krakow.
Although he did not share any details, Lissing revealed that the scene between Jack and Abigail is a “beautiful scene.” He also added that it was “done in the right way.” Of course, it does help that Brian Bird and many others from WCTH are involved with this production, although the shows are now on competing networks.
Moreover, now Daniel Lissing and Lori Loughlin are on GAC, while their former co-stars are still at Hallmark. But, that doesn’t mean that they are not still keeping in touch.
Daniel Lissing, Lori Loughlin Facetimed Erin Krakow
When they began to work together, Daniel Lissing and Lori Loughlin immediately FaceTimed Erin Krakow. The trio had spent so much time together building When Calls The Heart.
He emotionally recalled the special moment. “The three of us had a moment together.” He continued to explain how he and Lori were working together when they immediately FaceTimed Erin.
But, the situation was “bittersweet.” Lori and Daniel were so happy to be together. But, when they were in the FaceTime conversation, Erin said, “I wish I was there.”
When Calls The Heart Stars Talked About Working Together Again
Daniel Lissing revealed that the trio had previously discussed working together again. Lissing admits, “that may or may not happen. But, the feeling is there.”
Deidre Behar has been covering When Calls The Heart for years. Because she knows the actors so well, she did not hesitate to ask what was said in the conversation, and “what are the feelings rushing through your brain?”
Lissing revealed that there were a lot of “miss you, love you, wish you were here” in the conversation. He added, “I feel grateful for even just working with these great women.”
Could Erin, Daniel, Lori Ever Appear On Screen Again?
When asked if there is any possibility that Erin Krakow, Lori Loughlin, and Daniel Lissing could ever work again, Lissing made it clear he would like this.
He shared that he has spoken to Lori, and they discussed some “behind the scenes” collaborations.
Moreover, he shared that “I would work with Erin in a heartbeat.” He continued, “The idea of us doing a movie together..a Christmas movie, a RomCom. Whatever, in any capacity. I just think that’s a no-brainer.”
“We’ll leave that up to the movie gods and see what happens.”
GAC Family’s When Hope Calls Christmas premieres on Saturday, December 18, at 8 p.m. Eastern.
