Derick Dillard Tells All: Did He & Jill Duggar Date Or Court?
Derick Dillard is getting real honest about his relationship with his wife, Jill Duggar. As we reported, the former Counting On star threw shade at his wife’s family with his new anniversary post this week. Now, he’s sharing even more about their relationship, hinting that it’s not exactly what it seemed like years ago on the family’s show.
As Derick tells all, he also shares whether he and Jill courted like the rest of the Duggar siblings. As fans know, the Duggars adhere to strict courtship rules, which include not holding hands until engagement, no front hugs, and only going on chaperoned dates. The idea behind courtships is that the kids will date with the intent of marriage.
As far as we know, all of the Duggar kids have courted, though some of them have had different rules. John-David and Abbie Duggar, for example, were older when they began courting and were a little more relaxed when it came to setting boundaries. So, did Derick and Jill do the same thing that the rest of the Duggar siblings did? Or is this another way they defied Jim Bob and Michelle?

In his anniversary post dedicated to Jill, he reflects on their relationship. Surprisingly, he says they were “dating” rather than courting. He wrote, “8 years ago today I started dating my best friend @jillmdillard while I was working on the other side of the world! I definitely enjoyed our unchaperoned motorcycle ride around the area 😉 And I have fond memories of the extra week we had over Thanksgiving to enjoy more intimate time together and get to know each other even better 🙂 If I had a GED in knowing you then, I want a Ph.D. 50 years from now! 😘”
In the comments section, fans are shocked to learn that Jill and Derick dated rather than courting. They also pointed out Derick’s statement about having unchaperoned moments together. This comes as a huge surprise because fans always assumed the pair had the same rules as the rest of Jill’s siblings. Now, fans are begging Derick to continue spilling the tea.
