JaMarcus Russell's 2021 Net Worth Revealed

JaMarcus Russell’s 2021 Net Worth Revealed

News

There was a time when JaMarcus Russell was thought to be one of the best young quarterbacks in the NFL. He put up eye-popping numbers in college and had a cannon for an arm. He also had just enough mobility to be dangerous. That’s why the then-Oakland Raiders were so high on him.

However, the quarterback never really put up the kind of numbers of that people expected. He struggled to lead a bad Raiders team to the promised land and had issues off the field that contributed to his exit from the NFL after only a few years.

However, while he was making a living playing professional football he was making … quite the living. As a high first-round pick, the quarterback was someone who garnered one of the biggest rookie contracts in the league. He didn’t do it for long, but while he was playing in the NFL he raked in the dough.

So the question these days, is just what is JaMarcus Russell’s 2021 net worth?

JaMarcus Russell Squandered An Opportunity

31 games. $40 million. That’s what the quarterback’s career eventually came down to.

In the 2007 NFL Draft, the Oakland Raiders selected the former LSU Tigers’ quarterback with the first overall pick.

However, things got off to a rocky start right away as the Raiders and Russell failed to reach a contract agreement which resulted in the top pick holding out through training camp until the first of the NFL season.

The Raiders and their quarterback eventually agreed on a contract worth $68 million for six years with $32 million guaranteed upon signing.

The young quarterback only played four games in his rookie season with only one start. He finished the year with 36 completed passes in 66 attempts along with two touchdowns in 373 passing yards.

The following year, JaMarcus Russell was named as the starting quarterback for the Raiders. He led the team to a 5-10 record in the 15 games he started as he passed for 2,473 yards with 13 touchdowns.

Things started going downhill quickly as he was benched by coach Tom Cable after their Week 5 loss against the New York Giants. He was then in and out of the starting lineup as the Raiders favored the other options at quarterback.

Career Comes To An End

Russell played 12 games in the 2009 season and started 9 of them and they held a record of 2-7 in the games that he was in the starting lineup. He finished the season with the lowest quarterback rating, lowest completion percentage, fewest passing touchdowns, and fewest passing yards among the qualified quarterbacks.

Eventually, Jamarcus Russell’s career came to an end. By being cut in the 2010.

These days, the former quarterback is said to have a net worth of about $4 million in 2021. That’s a far cry from what he was worth when he first entered the NFL.
