Long before she was Bachelorette co-host or Dancing With The Stars contestant, Kaitlyn Bristowe headlined her own season of the ABC dating show. The final two suitors came down to Nick Viall and Shawn Booth, with Bristowe ultimately choosing Booth.
During the Season 11 finale, Kaitlyn and Shawn got engaged. They were together for three years before splitting in September of 2018. However, the public didn’t learn of the break-up until two months later, in November.
Bachelorette winner doubts it was ‘true love’
For the most part, Shawn Booth is one of the most private Bachelor Nation alums. Over the years, he’s spoken out about his experience on the show. However, his most recent comments about his relationship with Kaitlyn Bristowe are unlike anything he’s said before.
Earlier this week, he was a guest on the Austin AF podcast, where he spilled MAJOR tea about both his engagement and how he was “so worn down mentally, emotionally, physically” on the show.
In fact, in hindsight, Booth implied that he didn’t really want to propose but was pressured into it by producers. According to the TV personality, producers told him, “Everyone is gonna hate you” if he didn’t propose.
He also said that there was pressure to stay together after the engagement. While he admits to having “a fun time” with his former fiance, things were different away from the public. “Being in love, and doing the whole love thing, we weren’t that good at behind closed doors,” Shawn Booth told the podcast hosts.
Furthermore, he now doubts if it was ever really love with Kaitlyn.
“I think love is a loose term, like, looking back at it,” her former fiance said. He further states that if it were “true love,” they would still be together.
Why Shawn Booth felt ex was ‘disrespectful’ after split
Kaitlyn Bristowe wasn’t single for long after splitting up from her Bachelorette winner. Us Weekly reports that she went public with her relationship with Jason Tartick in January 2019, two months after her official split from Booth.
While he admits that “everyone deals with breakups different,” he also admits to feeling disrespected. “I felt like it was disrespectful, but that’s not my place to say,” he said on the podcast.
Kaitlyn Bristowe and Jason Tartick got engaged in May and are planning their wedding. She has yet to respond to Shawn Booth’s comments about their relationship.
