Britney Spears is finally free from her conservatorship. It all started when the pop star asked the court to terminate her 13-year conservatorship. She made an emotional testimony on July 23, which went viral on social media. It catapulted the #FreeBritney movement, which was already on fire and caught the attention of celebrities and politicians.

The conservatorship stripped the “Make Me” singer from making both financial and personal decisions. Britney’s father, James “Jamie” Spears was her conservator for the duration. In late October, he was suspended as her conservator. Britney explained that the arrangement was abusive and traumatizing.

A judge rules end of conservatorship

The Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Brenda Penny ruled for Britney Spears to be free from the conservatorship. She ended the agreement without further mental health evaluations. In September, Jamie Spears eventually agreed to file a petition to terminate the conservatorship. Britney’s attorney, Matthew Rosengart, asked the court to remove him from her case.

He accused Jamie Spears of mismanaging her finances and profiting off her career during his role as conservator in the past 13 years. The judge ruled to suspend Jamie Spears and replaced him with a temporary conservator. He had to understand that the singer’s attorney would file to terminate the conservatorship within the next 30 to 45 days.

That day has finally come. Thanks to the pleas of fans, Britney’s conservatorship is officially terminated. That means the singer is freed from the grips of her dad who has ruled her life and finances for well over a decade. There will be a hearing to review her accounting and fees on December 8.

In her June 23 testimony, Britney claimed that her father did not want to get pregnant. The “Toxic” singer had to wear an intrauterine device against her will. She was also forced into a rehab facility by her father. The singer explained the emotional and mental distress she experienced.

Britney Spears thanks fans

Britney Spears fans cheered as the news came in on Friday, November 12. The pop star took to Instagram to share a clip of the roaring crowd in Los Angles. She thanked them for their ongoing support. She would still be in the conservatorship if it wasn’t for the #FreeBritney movement.

Good God I love my fans so much it’s crazy 🥺❤️ !!!” Britney Spears captioned the post. “I think I’m gonna cry the rest of the day !!!! Best day ever … praise the Lord … can I get an Amen 🙏🏼☀️🙌🏼 ???? #FreedBritney”
