If you threatened to stop watching Dancing With The Stars, Derek Hough doesn’t care.

Each season, many fans say they won’t watch the show anymore for one reason or another. But it’s not getting under the newest judge’s skin at all.

Derek Hough doesn’t mind when DWTS fans get a little riled up

PopCulture recently sat down with Derek Hough to talk about the remainder of DWTS Season 30. Honestly, the judge believes that fan boycotts aren’t all bad. He says it’s a good thing that fans get so invested in the show.

“It’s funny when people say that — they say, ‘I’m not watching the show now because so and so went home,” six-time Mirrorball Trophy winner said. “Honestly, it doesn’t bother me when people say that, because it’s because they care. They’re rooting for these people, they’re getting invested, and I think that’s a really positive thing.”

Derek went on to say that he feels sad when certain contestants leave too, so he understands the sentiment. For example, he really didn’t want Mel C to leave and thought it was way too soon for her to go.

“She’s just pop culture legend, and so I was really bummed … to see her go,” he continued. “Man, she definitely went home too soon for sure, because she was super talented and super kind and just awesome. So yeah, that was a bummer. That was a bummer one for me, but I was really looking forward to her when she joined the season.”

It’s okay to feel sad when your favorite competitor goes home. But just keep in mind that only one couple can win at the end of the season!
