‘Bringing Up Bates’ Star Carlin Stewart Dragged For ‘Irresponsible’ Parenting
Bringing Up Bates star Carlin Stewart is being questioned for a recent parenting decision she made. Carlin is one of Kelly Jo and Gil Bates’ 19 kids. She’s married to Evan Stewart, and they share one-year-old Layla. They also have a baby on the way due in the spring. Though Carlin has been a mom for almost two years and has plenty of experience around children, fans are wondering if she’s responsible enough to parent her daughter. So, what happened?
Carlin Stewart shares ‘irresponsible’ and ‘unsafe’ parenting choices.
On social media, Carlin posted a video of herself and her daughter Layla walking through the airport. While Carlin walks and pulls a suitcase, Layla is seated on top of it. The little girl is holding on tightly to the handle as she glides through the airport.
While some fans might think this is cute, others are seriously upset about Carlin’s decision. In an anonymous confession on the Duggar Bates Confessions page, one fan writes, “I think this is so unsafe and shows Carlin is sometimes too immature to be a parent – I still like her and all but this is just irresponsible.”
Someone else adds, “I agree. Like she can let go at any time!!! It’s so unsafe and just shows that Carlin is to young to have a child, soon two.”
Another says, “I can’t imagine doing this… if she ever fell (she’s not even two is she?)… quickly backwards she could split her head open in a flash. Accidents don’t happen at the most opportune times; they happen when you are caught off guard or something.”
Yet another fan writes, “It’s like she’s playing with a doll and not a real child.”
Bringing Up Bates fans defend her parenting choices.
While some fans think that Carlin made an “immature” choice when it came to her daughter’s safety, others don’t see any harm in Layla riding on top of the suitcase through the airport. Some fans have done this with their own children. Others point out that Carlin is within arms reach and can catch Layla if she falls. Plus, Layla is almost two years old, so she should know how to hang on, some fans add.

I am very glad that I was not followed around like Carlin while I was a young mother raising my children. I am positive I made mistakes and used questionable judgment at times. As parents we try our best because we love our children. But we are all human and make mistakes. Carlin and Evan know Layla better than any other people in the world. My bet is that Carlin was sure Layla would hold on tightly but at the same time she was ready to catch her if she started to fall.
I guess the people complaining about this never let their kids hang onto the side of a shopping cart either. Kids need to experience outside of their comfort zone. These children are tough! Have you never watched their show?!
There seem to be a lot of perfect parents out there who have never made a questionable choice. Layla is a healthy, happy little girl with parents who love her. So let’s all just be thankful that our own parenting skills aren’t on public display 24/7.
