Bachelorette star opened up about uncertain future days before split
Blake Moynes and Katie Thurston have been living separate lives since they went public with their engagement. Katie recently moved from Washington state to San Diego, California, on her own.
Meanwhile, Blake was living in Canada, his home country. He also traveled to Africa earlier this month on an educational expedition about African wildlife.
The two did spend some time together in NYC before he left. She also mentioned on her Instagram Stories last week that she was flying into Canada on October 23rd. Did the reunion not go as planned?
The way they were
Bachelor Nation viewers met Blake Moynes long before Katie Thurston did. He appeared on Season 16 of The Bachelorette, pursuing Clare Crawley and then Tayshia Adams.
Along with viewers, he watched Katie Thurston on Matt James’ season of The Bachelor in 2021. After her elimination, he reached out to her via DM, though they say it never went further than chatting.
However, during filming of Katie’s season of The Bachelorette, Blake showed up with a plea to let him join the show and see what happens.
She agreed and the rest is history. Not only did he get the final rose, he proposed to Thurston during the season finale. She said yes, but they shared shocking news with their fans on October 25.

Just three months since their engagement aired on ABC, Blake Moynes and Katie Thurston are calling it quits. They both took to their respective Instagram accounts to share similar statements announcing the end of their relationship.
The identical statements profess “mutual love and respect.” However, the duo released they aren’t meant to be life partners.
“We ultimately have concluded that we are not compatible as life partners, and it is the most caring choice for both of us to move forward independently.” – Blake Moynes and Katie Thurston, Instagram.
The former Bachelorette stars ask for “kindness and privacy” following the split. The statement ends with the expression of “forever [wanting] the best for one another.”

The news comes out of left field for many following the former couple’s romance. Bachelor Nation stars came out in full force to express their shock, dismay, and support.
Clare Crawley, who is going through a rough break-up of her own, dropped a heart emoji on Katie’s Instagram post. Outspoken Bachelor Nation star Blake Horstmann left three heart emojis on Katie’s post and a “here for you buddy” on Blake’s.
While the sentiment was mostly heartfelt sorrow, one of Blake’s followers couldn’t help but troll him.
