Spurgeon Seewald Likened To Tom Riddle Of ‘Harry Potter’
Duggar fans have discovered a new lookalike for Spurgeon Seewald, the son of Ben and Jessa. A recent photo of the five-year-old has a close resemblance to a Harry Potter character named Tom Riddle. So, which picture sparked this conversation, and why do fans think Spurgeon looks like Tom Riddle?

Jessa recently shared a few photos of her family of five enjoying themselves at a local coffee shop. Along with the pictures, Jessa promoted a giveaway with the company. However, fans are focusing on something else in the recent family pictures. They noticed Spurgeon’s similar appearance to Tom Riddle.
On Instagram, a fan submitted an anonymous confession, claiming that Spurgeon looks like Tom Riddle in the new picture. They write, “Jessa’s most recent picture of Spurgeon gave me Tom Riddle vibes from Harry Potter.”
Noticeably, Spurgeon is wearing a cardigan with embroidery on the chest, similar to a Hogwarts robe or shirt. Plus, he has a curl on his forehead like Tom Riddle.
Do the Duggars know about Harry Potter?
Several fans have discussed whether the Duggars are allowed to read or watch Harry Potter. It doesn’t seem likely that they would be because many Christians don’t want their kids to learn about witchcraft and magic. In a fan blog post from 2012, viewers created a list of questions for Michelle Duggar. While she hasn’t answered these questions, fans raise some reasonable points about whether the kids are familiar with Harry Potter.
One fan writes, “Do the Duggars read Harry Potter? HHHMMM…. I’ve already answered this one. I CAN SAY WITH ALL CERTAINTY THE DUGGARS DO NOT READ HARRY POTTER. GARBAGE IN, GARBAGE OUT as Michelle says.”
Another fan argues, “It is one of the most Christian-themed books out there and it teaches kids to be brave, to stand up for what is right, and that individuals are responsible for their good and bad decisions. They urge those who are evil to repent. This is not even close to garbage.”
Of course, there’s no way to know for sure how the Duggars feel about Harry Potter. They haven’t publicly answered these questions themselves. However, many fans think it’s safe to assume they don’t like the fantasy series.
