The new project was first announced in 2019 and has been in development by Levy’s 21 Laps Entertainment since then.

What is the plot of the Original series?

As mentioned, the new Netflix limited series All the Light We Cannot See is an adaptation of Anthony Doerr’s 2014 Pullitzer-winning novel of the same title. According to Amazon, the bestselling book tells the story of Marie-Laure, who lives in Paris. She resides close to the Museum of Natural History, where her father works.

When Marie-Laure was 12, the Nazis occupied Paris and she and her father were forced to flee from the city. They head to the walled citadel of Saint-Malo, where her reclusive great uncle lives in a tall house by the sea. Meanwhile, Marie-Laure and her father carry with them what could be the most valuable and dangerous jewel from the museum.

Meanwhile, in a German mining town, Werner Pfennig is an orphan, who grows up with his younger sister. The siblings are both fascinated by a crude radio they find. Meanwhile, the pair listens to news and stories from places they have never seen or even imagined. Werner goes on to become an expert at building and repairing these radios and uses his talent to hunt down the resistance.

In the novel, Doerr deftly interweaves the lives of Marie-Laure and Werner. He reveals the ways that, against all odds, people try to be good to one another.

Cast and production status of All the Light We Cannot See

Casting is currently ongoing for the series and producers are looking for actresses who are blind or have low vision. This is reportedly for the role of Marie-Laure in the limited series. However, there is no further casting news available as yet. No other casting news has yet been revealed for All the Light We Cannot See.

As of this month, the limited series is still in the writing process. Meanwhile, according to issue 1265 of Production Weekly, filming will start in Europe in the first quarter of 2022. Meanwhile, as noted by What’s on Netflix, the limited series will have four, one-hour episodes.

As for a release date for All the Light We Cannot See, a rough estimate puts it at dropping at some time in 2023.
