Below Deck Med star Lloyd Spencer revealed something that fans didn’t get to see on the show. As fans recall, the deckhand was horribly sick in the latest episode. He was whisked away by boat to a doctor on land. Lloyd was having an off day and not feeling like his usual, chipper self.

He was even off his game when it came to his work. Bosun Malia White noticed that Lloyd didn’t look well and informed Captain Sandy Yawn, who then took his blood pressure. Not only was his blood pressure high, but he was also vomiting and shaking uncontrollably.

Lloyd Spencer suffered a panic attack

As previously assumed, Lloyd Spencer suffered a panic attack. Fans are getting to see the different ways that anxiety can play out among the crew members. On Season 5 of Below Deck Med, former chief stew Hannah Ferrier shared her struggle with anxiety, which included symptoms of yawning. But Lloyd’s anxiety took a concerning turn since his symptoms were similar to that of a heart attack.

In his interview with Decider, Lloyd revealed that it was his first panic attack. He was not aware of the symptoms of anxiety. They slowly built up as the season came to an end. Lloyd was worried whether he would work with another supportive and understanding crew again. However, the Brit explained that it was a culmination of things that led up to his panic attack.

“I didn’t really understand what was going on. It was a mix of being back at home with the Covid lockdown — I’m usually a very social person, so I was really struggling with not being around lots of people — and then the readjustment to things not necessarily being like I was used to, being able to suddenly go out and be in big crowds,” Lloyd Spencer explained. “There’s all these restrictions and protocols and stuff that happened, and that really had a detrimental effect on my mental health. And then obviously certain big key points happened in the season, and by the time you saw me leaving the boat to go to see the doctor, I was very, very tired.”

What Below Deck Med fans didn’t see on the show

Lloyd also revealed that moments that fans didn’t get to see this season. Unfortunately, this season of Below Deck Med only focused on the drama, especially during their crew outings. Lloyd shared a sweet moment that took place between him, chief stew Katie Flood, and Chef Mathew Shea.

“The Katie appreciation songs that me and Mat were singing did not get enough air time,” Lloyd explained. “We were all sat at dinner, because we all had these different songs, and Mat and I just started singing. You know the song, ‘Riding along in my automobile,’ but we changed the words to Katie, so it was ‘Riding along in my Katie-mobile, Katie’s right beside me at the wheel’. Then me and Mat were like, ‘Do-do-do-do-do-do,’ dancing around the galley and singing it, which didn’t get shown, unfortunately.”

This comes after Katie revealed that one of her talks with Lexi Wilson was left on the cutting room floor. The two had a heart-to-heart about mental health. Lexi previously shared that she was struggling when she joined the superyacht. Yet, her behavior was still unacceptable, which most of her crew agree on to this day.

The Below Deck Med Season 6 finale airs Monday, October 18 at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.
