SNL faced backlash for inviting Kim Kardashian to host

Before SNL creator Lorne Michaels confirmed some of the guest hosts for Season 47, there were rumblings and rumors. One rumor suggested reality starlet Kim Kardashian might be among the hosts.

Former NBC sitcom star Debra Messing was particularly irked about the idea. People were panning the SKIMS owner before she even set foot on the stage.

Kim Kardashian’s name has been in headlines more than usual lately due to her relationship status with estranged husband Kanye West. Despite filing for divorce from the rapper earlier this year, the duo has been spotted together recently, sparking rumors of a reconciliation.

But during her turn as SNL hostess, Kim Kardashian put herself out there for love. In a hilarious spoof of ABC’s The Bachelorette, the veteran reality star handed out tokens to her possible suitors.

Among the fictional suitors was a former real-life contestant from The Bachelorette – Tyler Cameron. He was the runner-up on Season 15 featuring Hannah Brown as the lead.

Wrestler-turned-actor John Cena, comedian Chris Rock, Grey’s Anatomy alum Jesse Williams, actor Chase Crawford, and NBA star Blake Griffin also appeared as contestants. Deadline reports that SNL cast member Kyle Mooney rounded out the suitors in the skit.

But that’s not all.

Amy Schumer appeared as a producer of the fictional dating competition.
