When combined with her equally not intellectual roommates, this can only lead to hilarity. Read on to find out more about this upcoming new comedy.
Pretty Smart coming to Netflix
Pretty Smart is an upcoming Netflix Original comedy series, created by Jack Dolgen and Doug Mand. The comedy is directed by Pamela Fryman and Jody Margolin Hahn, while production is handled by the streaming channel’s own studio.
Emily Osment (Spy Kids and Hannah Montana) stars as Chelsea, a Harvard-educated intellectual and aspiring novelist. After unexpectedly being dumped by her boyfriend, she is forced to move in with her carefree, bubbly, not-so-intellectual sister, Claire (Olivia Macklin). However, that’s not all, as she has to share a home with her sister’s lovably eccentric, not-so-intellectual roommates.
One roommate is Grant (Gregg Sulkin), a “distractingly handsome personal trainer.” Others are Solana (Cinthya Carmona), a former lawyer turned healer and Jayden (Michael Hsu Rosen) a social media influencer. At first, this is tricky, but soon Chelsea’s tough, judgmental exterior starts to soften as she gets to know her new friends. In fact, they end up forming an unlikely-found family.
About the cast
Fans of the Disney shows Spy Kids and Hannah Montana will remember Emily well. However, since those days, she has had a number of excellent roles. Osment had her own ABC Family show, Young & Hungry, running for five seasons between 2014 and 2018. More recently, Netflix fans will remember Emily for her role as Theresa on The Kominsky Method.
Meanwhile, fans of the Netflix show Greenhouse Academy will know Cinthya Carmona well as she now plays Solana, the former lawyer turned healer. Carmona has also starred in The Tax Collector and East Los High.
Michael Hsu Rosen plays social media influencer Jayden and is known for Looking, Taxi Brooklyn and The Empty Building. Meanwhile, Gregg Sulkin, who plays Grant, is known for Runaways, Faking It and Pretty Little Liars.
The role of Tiffany is played by Imani Love (Dietland, Madison Guerilla and Fabrication). Meanwhile, Alexandra Scott (The Wrong Boy Next Door, Brews Brothers and Dark Matter) plays Jane. Others include Robert Belushi (Chicago P.D., How I Met Your Mother and The Off-Season) and Santana Dempsey (Kenan, Scandal and Lowlife) as Nabila. David Gridley (The Duff, The Last Ship and Team Kaylie) plays Topher. Meanwhile, Kyle Jones (Masters of S*x, Damaged Goods and The Boonies) plays Aaron.
