‘GH’ News: Steve Burton Gives Health Status Update

General Hospital, News, Scripted, Soap Operas

Steve Burton, who plays Jason Morgan on General Hospital, recently revealed he had tested positive for COVID-19. He explained the positive test came just before he boarded a flight to head to the East Coast to do some events with Bradford Anderson, his General Hospital buddy. Burton noted the exposure occurred at work the prior week. While he’d tested negative once, he took another before getting on the plane to ensure he wouldn’t expose anybody to COVID. Unfortunately, that test came back positive.

Steve Burton Felt Well Despite The Positive COVID-19 Test

When Burton revealed his COVID news, he told General Hospital fans that he wasn’t experiencing any symptoms. He needed to isolate while he was positive, but luckily, he seemed to have an asymptomatic case. On Wednesday, he took to Instagram to share a brief update.

“All is well,” he wrote. “Thanks for the well wishes and prayers! Appreciate it and the fam is great! :)”

While Burton didn’t say so specifically, the note implied that his family had remained negative for COVID-19, or at least had been asymptomatic as well.

General Hospital Fans Flooded Burton’s Post With Well Wishes

More than 25,000 fans “liked” Burton’s Instagram post with his brief update. In addition, nearly 1,400 comments poured in as everybody added their support for the General Hospital star. His new co-star Cameron Mathison (Drew Cain) commented with a string of flexed bicep emoji and plenty of fans put prayer emoji in their comments.

“That is great news! Can’t wait for you to get back to work!” wrote one person.

“Stay healthy Steve and can’t wait to see you back on the show,” another shared.

There’s Plenty Of Action Ahead For Jason

So far, Burton hasn’t shared anything regarding when he can return to the General Hospital set. It is also not known whether his COVID-19 experience will cause any timing issues with the show’s filming schedule.

Burton was slated to do a string of shows with Anderson throughout the New York area this past week. Given that, it seems possible Burton’s current isolation won’t ultimately affect his ability to film for General Hospital. Fans know Jason is front-and-center these days with the mob drama and his upcoming wedding to Carly. Hopefully, Burton’s isolation won’t disrupt the flow of those storylines as the drama escalates in the weeks ahead.

General Hospital spoilers from SheKnows Soaps suggest that Carly and Jason’s wedding may come in September. As of the end of August, spoilers reveal the planning is still in process, and Maxie will try to throw herself into the thick of it all. Since Burton seems to be recovering quickly, all signs suggest he’ll be back filming the big day for his character and fans cannot wait.
